this is my updated Thor aggression list. the main focus is to use EMH to ready Thor a bunch, while also having plenty of ways to go off because of minions. with the GMW wave complete we do have some new aggression cards to play with.

allies- Angela and Sif are our only 2 non avenger allies. Angela is great for Thor’s economy and she’s just solid. the other allies are mainly EMH batteries.

events- bring it is a new card and it fits so well with Thor, it just accentuates what he already wants to do. with Angela and defender of the nine realms we shouldn’t have issues grabbing minions for the payoff. I’ve had 12 card hands already and it feels so good. there’s also a decent amount of energy in here so you can lightning strike for 4-5ea pretty consistently on hood bring it turns. lol not the fray helps maintain the threat and again just works well with Thor. moment of triumph is great to keep us face up and mean swing is great for our EMH turns.

supports- hall of heroes only one here for the extra card draw, I’d you can have good hall of heroes turn lined up with bring it you are Thor at the end of Ragnarok basically.

upgrades- battle fury gets us an extra ready in our deck for a total of 5. combat training gets us to 4 base ATk. endurance gets us to 22 atk and jarnbjorn is 2 free damage here and there throughout the game.

other cards considered/on the bubble-

relentless assault- more overkill!

looking for trouble- more defender of the nine realms basically.

adrenaline Rush- having 7 basic atk on triple EMH turns is insane and I almost went this route but opted for some other events to be a little more flexible.

godslayer/hand cannon- other weapon options are good but space is tight.

but where's Toe to Toe?

With this list... can you reliably activate Jarnbjorn? I know it's a little expensive, but what about including Quincarrier for a reliable way to activate it?

Right now I have Thor built in protection aspect, but I want to try buidling him again in Aggression to see how "Bring It!" work. How are they working for you?

I hesitate about them with Thor, as I usually found myself wasting a lot of attack to defeat little minions if I engage too much of them, I feel that they maybe fit better with Rocket Raccoon, which has more reliable massive damage.

@wehehe jarnbjorn was almost godslayer but I liked the potential 2 to anything. You can pop it but not tons of times due to limited physical resources.

Sure, having a total of 11 physical resources is hard to "abuse it". I also used to play Thor with Godslayer but that cost 3 really hurts, and I was thinking if Jarnbjorn would be a better option, as it also is a cheap way to enable a "double" Mean Swing.

And what about "Bring It!" ? They really deserve the spot ? At least with my playstile, I always try to clear the table of minions, so, specially in solo play, I think it's very difficult to have 2-3 minions engaged at a time.

@wehehe I actually run a deck with bring it, and had looking for trouble in there too. It works, even if you get minions to deal with; even then, hammer throw gets the job done. The thing to remember is that when you properly set up, you can take them out, then play something else and still hurt the villain. My deck also included dive bomb and when you began playing hammer throws and dive bombs every turn or so, the game quickly ended.

@BananaCrapshoot has EMH and battle fury to make it happen. I would echo the calls for quincarrier but otherwise, very cool deck!

Jul 29, 2021 BananaCrapshoot · 4636

@neothechosen dive bomb is another one I tried out but his kit itself can be expensive if you are diving deep on lightning strike so I left it out for now. But it can be very very good

@BananaCrapshoot I agree it's expansive, but it ended up working fine; we have a different approach, I had more resources as well as more ramp. I think both are viable, just a matter of choice or personnal preference at this point.

`@BananaCrapshoot lovely deck! this is close to my normal builds, used to go full deep on readying and lightning strikes! I'm about to chuck up a thwart heavy aggro deck for him which saw me through red skull heroic. Albeit I drew Asgard early and was playing next to a Steve Rogers.

Sorry @BananaCrapshootthat was a mistake on my part - certainly not heroic redskull... it was expert.

@Mattythreenames damn you got me excited for a moment LOL!

Helicarrier cannot trigger jarnbjorn, but quincarrier could. Looks like a solid build with a great cost curve. Well done :)!

  • i support the other comment on adding in a cost reducer or two. (Helicarrier, quincarrier, enhanced energy). You could also sub out jarnbjorn for hand cannon.
  • this will allow people to tweak it to their needs, but it's a solid template.

I have build a very similar MP deck lately with no EMH and Godslayer since it doesn't need resources. "Bring It!" works so well with Thor. I just brought minions from the encounter deck with Looking for Trouble, DotNR and Angela. If I felt overrun I just played Lightning Strike and collected the glory counters for Hall of Heroes. But I played Mutagen formula with Anachronauts and Protection Spidey so there were a lot of minions and almost no need to defend.

Would there be any value in putting in Team Building Exercises?

Aug 02, 2021 99neil99 · 22

TBE applies to 6 cards. You're better off using Helicarrier or Quincarrier that apply to all the cards in your deck (-0 costs).

Aug 04, 2021 teamcanadahockey2002 · 6591

Its always an interesting debate as to when Deft Focus and TBE have enough targets to be more useful than the Helicarrier when looking for a resource generator. Cheaper, but fewer targets. If you can get it to trigger most hands, its probably worth considering though.

With Thor having Asgard and Avenger traits, TBE would hit 3 allies (since 2 are 0 cost), 2 supports and and 5 upgrades for 10 cards total. If I had 10 targets, I'd probably consider adding the Power Of cards, since those effectively will do the same thing here. I'm not saying its an auto-include, but for a hero with a low hand size, it could give some help paying for a lot of critical cards if pulled early.

Heck, even just paying to get Mjolnir back on the table when its used as a resource or after Hammer Throw may be worth it.

@teamcanadahockey2002``@99neil99

I think you could have both Quincarrier and TBE.

Quin has more targets and helps Lightning Strike.

TBE has 6 targets, but one of them keeps coming back to your hand and you really want it in play!

My latest games with Thor I used both AND Deft Focus AND sometimes even Martial Prowess. Combined with God of Thunder, you get free Hammer Throws and it feels amazing. Plus you thin out your deck...

Aug 05, 2021 99neil99 · 22

If youre going to use 2, I would opt for helicarrier (as it affects all of your cards + it works on teammates) & quincarrier. TBE would be a good 3rd choice. If you add all 3 then it'll up the efficiency & consistency.

Aug 07, 2021 celric · 428

@teamcanadahockey2002Yes. Team-Building Exercise would be the 3rd best card in this deck behind the 2x God of Thunder.

@neothechosenTBE Reduces Asgard and Avengers so it’s 10 cards on top of Mjolnir multiple times per game after Hammer Throw.

It would be a big upgrade over Battle Fury.

@99neil99 In a 3-4 hero games the flexibility for teammates of Heli probably pays off. In 1-2 hero games, giving Thor extra Jarnborn and Lightning Strike damage and that TBE can reduce the Quinn’s cost let’s it thoroughly out-class Heli.

Helicarrier also reduces the cost of quincarrier. You dont even have quincarrier in the deck. We all build differently. It's a good thing.

some of even play with actual cards!

I've never tried the mod on TTS, but I think however you play, as long as you play is what matters most! :D
