Dance of Death | Covert Ops
I'm late to the Black Widow Party, but I have had a lot of fun with this deck so I wanted to share it with you all. My favorite cards of hers are Dance of Death and Covert Ops, so I built this deck around them.
Whenever I build a deck for a character I ask myself, "What stands out about this character?" For Black Widow it was her preparation mechanic, and her unique events. I've found that she doesn't need help with her preparation strategy other than adding Agent Coulson to the deck (Which is a must include!). So I decided to capitalize on her unique way of attacking and thwarting. The basic idea of this deck is to use Float Like a Butterfly in combination with Dance of Death. This essentially does the same thing as Gambit. Each one of her attacks will do an extra damage if the enemy is confused so Dance of Death turns into a deal 2, deal 3, deal 4 for a total of 9 damage that can be spread about however you would like! This is incredibly versatile and strong! Covert Ops is a thwart event that can be used in alter-ego that also confuses the villain, making it pair well in this strategy. The other card that enables Float Like a Butterfly is Upside the Head, which can confuse the villain for 1 cost and if they are already confused it stuns! This in combination with her abundant allies mitigates her weakness of having low health. Also, every ally will be doing an extra damage on their attacks! For instance, Spider-Man can come into play and attack for 5 on the first hit, then two more times for a total of 11 damage! Deadpool can stay on the board indefinitely dealing 3 damage every single turn! Spider-Woman is another great card for this deck because she can become very cheap and thematically fits in.
Strategy:
This strategy revolves around Float Like a Butterfly and Upside the Head, so mulligan hard to try to find these on the first turn! That's the only reason I included 3 copies of Float Like a Butterfly. In multiplayer this isn't really a weakness because if you draw another copy after you have already played it you can place it under your teammates control so that they can benefit from the confused status cards as well.
Mulligan Priority
-
Float Like A Butterfly
- Enables the entire strategy.
-
Upside The Head
- Cheapest way to confuse the villain.
-
Dance of Death
- Deal tons of damage.
-
Allies
- The allies can deal a ton of damage and then block for you to preserve hp.
-
Attacrobatics
- This counts as an attack for Float Like a Butterfly.
Card Substitutions
I was going for a mix of thematic and strong for this deck. I think it is stronger to substitute Mockingbird for Dazzler and Professor X. As always feel free to edit this deck however you like!

Love the write up, as always! Great use of confusing with Float Like a Butterfly. I never thought how concussive blow can totally be enhanced by it.
