Predictable girl, you're teasing me
You know what I want, and I got what you need
Predictable Ploy, let's get to the point
'Cause we're on a roll, you ready?
Extended Write-up:
This deck builds out a bit like supported scaffolding.
At the top, you're set up, the villain is stunned or confused, and you're soaking damage with Magic Barrier or canceling treacheries with Predictable Ploy, paying for these cards at a -2 discount by playing them off the top of your deck in the villain phase (so Magic Barrier becomes 0 Effective Resources instead of 2 ER and Predictable Ploy becomes just 1 ER instead of 3 ER).
But through the early and midgame, you're throwing up player side schemes in front of you and dropping them with Exorcism or Wolfsbane + Honorary X-Men + Mission Training, drawing cards off Wolfsbane (who cheats by seeing the top of your deck) and Skilled Investigator, and benefitting yourself and any teammates with the PSS rewards.
Triage, X-Mansion, and Utopia target Wolfsbane most of the time, yourself when needed.
Limbo, as always, is a must-play.
Soulsword is probably the priority for Magik's upgrades, since you will have threat removal covered by your allies, Exorcism, and Zone of Silence, and defense with stunning, blocking, and Magic Barrier, and you can really use the extra +1 ATK you can get from Soulsword.
As always, there is an incredible amount of clever navigating of the top card that you can do with Legion, Wolfsbane, Scrying, Spiritual Meditation, Stepping Disc, Limbo, and even Zone Silence / Skilled Investigator. One typical move is to have/get a physical resource on top, attack with Magik for 3, play Stepping Disc to put Soul Strike on top, play Soul Strike to get the stun from the physical underneath, then attack again for 3 with the physical on top.
Have fun figuring out your own rhythm and adjusting to what the scenario throws at you!

Aug 09, 2024So much fun, but now you've got that stuck in my Head!! |
BandOfSirens mentioned to me the possibility of running Moira MacTaggert, and it made me want to clarify that you could absolutely run a few of these strong alter-ego supports like Moira, X-Bunker, or Weapon X, but I excluded them because I want to stay in hero form most of the game and it allows another player to run all of these alter-ego supports in multiplayer.
That being said, if you were to add one, I’d add X-Bunker, and I identified the two best “flex” cards as one each of the extra copies of X-Gene and Honorary X-Men. So you could swap these two for X-Bunker and either Moira or another ally like Beak.
