Psi-Strike
The idea behind this deck is to use Psylocke's Basic Attack along with her Psionic cards. Pslyocke is all about her psionics and her weapons and this deck leans into those themes with lots of weapon damage and mental confusion.
Basic Attack
Bonuses
You have ATK=3 with both Katanas out, which is already among the highest ATK of anyone in the game along with Wolverine, Hulk and Thor. Combat Training brings that to ATK=4 which is a Skill so it can be retrieved from Training Regimen. Once you get Fluid Motion (which is also a Skill) into play you can start a turn by playing an attack event first and then benefit from the ATK=5 for the rest of the phase when put all together.
Quick Strike
Once you have your bonuses out you'll want to can trigger additional uses of its value through Quick Strike. When you have your max bonuses up and combine Quick Strike with Honed Technique you're dealing 7 damage for cost 2. You'll likely still be able to play another event and use your Basic Attack on that turn. Imagine you are able to play Psychic Assault and Quick Strike which are both 2 cost aggression events on the same turn, you'd be dealing 5PA + 7QS + 5ATK = 17 damage with a Confuse because of Fluid Motion and Honed Technique. You'll be doing even more on rounds coming out of Alter Ego form and/or if you had a Cell Phone out - possibly dealing as much as 27 damage on a turn with a confuse. Even more with Float Like a Butterfly! (if you can somehow get one from an party-member).
Cell Phone
If you get the ATK=5 using Cell Phone - that will be a cost 2 for 18 damage over 3 rounds when combined initial basic, both Katanas, Combat Training, Fluid Motion active and the inherent benefit from Cell Phone. If you happen to have Float Like a Butterfly and can proc it would be cost 2 for 21 against over 3 rounds against confused.
Professor X + Cerebro
You can also play Professor X to attack-ready-attack. Then you use Psylocke's hero action to bring him into your deck and Cerebro to bring him into your hand which you can do every turn. Because of this routine you don't really need more allies - with the liability that she needs to either pull Professor X or Cerebro and doesn't have any other access to it.
Psionics
There are 17 Psionic cards in the deck. There are 10 cards that grant you access to Confuse. There are 7 Skill cards in the deck. Pslyocke's best friend in a multiplayer party would be anyone that is carrying a Float Like a Butterfly in their Justice aspect.
Resources
Psylocke can generate 2 resources from her weapons. There are the normal 3 Basic 2-resource cards Energy, Genius and Strength. The Power of Aggression applies to 13 cards while #The Power of the Mind applies to 17 cards giving them both high viability. 6 cards are both Psionic and Aggression. The deck then has 7 2-resource cards that are highly likely to be viable in a given hand. Another liability she has is with her 4-hand size in hero-form she could risk ending up with a resource surplus. The deck assumes you're going to be flipping every other round for the extra cards and for the Cerebro / Professor X which will help guarantee you have something to spend resources on. Remember, The Power of the Mind also applies to Professor X. Finally there is Martial Prowess that can generate a physical resource for an attack event which are described below.
Events
She has 19 event cards with a lot of access to resources. 12 of those cards are Attack to trigger Fluid Motion. All of her event cards cost 2 or less except for Flurry of Blades. She'll want to get Honed Technique in as early as possible (after Combat Training if given the choice) to have her 9 aggression events tap for the extra damage.
Liabilities
- Low number of allies - depends on Cerebro / Professor-X combo
- Potential for Resource Surplus starting turn in hero form
- Low card draw but can tutor
One approach to alter this deck for more chump blocking would be to add a couple of 2-cost Allies, of course then the deck would go to 40+. You could reduce the aggression events down to 2-each allowing you to have 3 more allies - of course some of the numbers above would be adjusted a bit.
Suggestions for allies are Bug since he's Aggression and you will be using your basic attack all the time. Another would be Sunfire since he's aggression and the deck does have a lot of Energy resource to take away a villain ability. Maybe Marrow too for lost cost hero a little damage.
