Silk can get 10 DEF easy, so you can drop the "Expert Defense" x3 if you want, I got them here for two reasons: To be safe, and to add damage to "Stop Hitting Yourself".
With "Expert Defense" and "Stop Hitting Yourself" in your hand you will be perfectly safe AND you will be doing heavy damage on a counterattack. You'll be hitting for up to 19 damage on the enemy's turn! The "Expert Defense" also helps in the early game, before you get the "Armored Vest", "Spider Reflexes" and tucks set up.
The cards you want are "Spider Reflexes", "#Spider Claws", and "Armored Vest". With the tucks, you got +4 (assuming the RIGHT tucks) on your DEF and ATK. You're sitting pretty at 6 ATK and 7 DEF (8 DEF with the Vest), which is amazing. Gwen's just here to chump block and grab some of those cards for you. If you can bring her back out, chump block and search your deck again.
Jocasta should get a copy of "Desperate Defense" so you can play it all the time and so she can ready all day long.
Out of Silk's kit, we only care about Reflexes, Claws and Eidetic Memory. Organic Webbing and Outwit are great, sure (Webbing more for the Ready) but the entire point of this deck is the DEF and ATK. Eidetic Memory lets us deal with some problematic Encounter pulls without (ideally) losing our tuck tempo.
What you really want for this are the Protection cards. "Stop Hitting Yourself" can deal a lot of damage. "Desperate Defense" gets you Ready after every single time you defend (as long as you pay for it). "Taunt" and "Change of Fortune" and "unflappable" has you drawing a lot of extra cards (Taunt 3 in our turn, and the other two a potential 3 MORE on the Villain Phase!). You use "#Nerves of Steel" for Resources, cause Silk needs them. Luckily, besides Jocasta, most of the Protection cards are 0 or 1 cost!
"#Anticipation" is used to feed Silk's tuck. She grabs a Minion, destroys it, 'eats' it for the tuck, Readies. And "Leading Blow" means she gets a free Ready every time you play it. How? With Claws (and the right tucks) you're at 6 for a Basic Attack, so make one, play "Leading Blow", there are NO cards in the Encounter deck that has 6 Boost Icons, so you're guaranteed to deal damage and thus trigger the Ready from the card.
If you want more Player Side Schemes, I'd suggest tossing Gwen and Web of Life. "Superpower Training" and "Specialization Training" are the only ones we care about. We're not going to be taking any real damage, we don't care about Tough (on us OR the enemies, if you got your Claws out), and we're not X-Men so no "Astonishing x-Men" for us. So just those two Training are it.
JJJ is a great editor, and he's also great at hitting the Side Schemes for 2 threat a turn. Our side schemes or encounter ones. Albert Moon is a great Support too and can heal her for 4 if she's got all tucks, so she can heal for 7 damage in one flip. While doing this, clear out 'junk' tucks for card draws, we don't want Standard cards under us (we DO want a Standard under us for"Eidetic Memory" though to block 'Shadows of the Past'! but only until Shadows is taken...and that's optional, really) so we can toss those for draws. We only want the main enemy's encounter set under us.
With the right plays and right draws at the right times, once you hit your setup, you're drawing 3 extra cards in the Villain Phase EACH TURN, you're Readying from Defending against the Villain's attack every turn, you're dealing 'counterattack' damage, you're drawing more cards on your turn w/Taunt, and you're just destroying minions left and right with Anticipation and Leading Blow.
I mean, if you do it right...let's say you got your Claws, your Reflexes, the Vest, Desperate Defense under Jocasta. The setup we want. Taunt the enemy, draw 3. Taunt again and again, go from 5 cards to 14. Fight a minion, 'eat' it, Ready w/Anticipation. Do it again and again. 14 cards, 6 free Readies (3 Leading blow, 3 Anticipation), 2 more cards w/the Defensive Energy cards....what else would you want in the game? ;)
Want to be even funnier? Grab a "Symbiote Suit". +10 HP? Sure. +1 to all your starts? Hell yes. Hah, if you got the 3x Expert Defenses and a Stop Hitting Yourself, that's 20 counterattack damage. That's a good LOL. But it's also +1 Hand Size. And the drawback? She has to draw another Encounter card? Wow, boo hoo, that's fuel for our tucks!
Imagine sitting with 15 cards in your hand in hero form and 6 Readies. Enemy not able to hurt you at all. Heck yeah.
