Webbed & Ready

(For A Fight)

Spider-Man vs Expert Ronan Playthrough

Ready for a Fight = Mass Healing

Ready for a Fight is a game changing card in Marvel Champions. This Spider-Man deck centers around RFAF and allows Peter to flip down safely to consistently grab the extra mental resource from his alter-ego ability, Scientist, and spam healing from Aunt May and Dr. Sinclair. Spider-Man can heal a total of 7 hit points with these 2 supports every turn he has access to alter-ego.

Symbiote Suit

One of the biggest disadvantageous of the Symbiote Suit (the obvious hazard icon aside) is getting extra hit points with no way to heal it back up when damage is taken. Spider-Man has no problem with this thanks to Aunt May & Dr. Sinclair. On turns we don't need to trigger RFAF, Peter can heal 14 hit points in 1 trip to alter-ego without needing to exhaust. The extra hazard isn't too much of an issue in normal scenarios and is comparable to the hazard icon from Ronan's Kree Command Ship as shown in the example playthrough. What Doesn't Kill Me has further synergy mechanically and thematically here giving us even more healing and takes advantage of the extra stat bonuses from the Symbiote Suit through extra readies/activations. I recommend playing the Symbiote Suit during the 2nd deckpass after Spidey has a few resource generators to easily pay for it, but if you have double resources and nothing else to play, Symbiote Suit early is completely fine. The most important factor when deciding if you should play it is how easily you can afford it on a given turn. Does playing the 4 cost upgrade mean you have to leave a side scheme and minion in play when you can otherwise defeat them? If so, hold off on the Symbiote. I would focus on it when you’re ramped enough to be able to play the suit AND clear the board in the same turn.

Mental, Physical, & Energy Balance

One of the most fun mechanics for me to deckbuild around in Marvel Champions are resource requirements for specific cards. Although we usually want to primarily focus on 1 type’s requirements when deckbuilding, this deck runs smoothly with all 3 thanks to Spider-Man's economy, the wild resources from Quincarrier/Web-Shooter in hero form, and mental resource from Scientist in alter-ego.

Mental Resource Requirement: The 2 cards that require mental resources are Moon Girl and Dr. Sinclair, both of which can only be played/used by Peter in alter-ego. Although we can't use web-shooters because it's a hero resource, we always have access to Scientist in alter-ego and will be utilizing it a lot. Ingenuity/Quincarrier can also help pay for them. Grant Ward also uses a mental resource to not betray us which is even easier to hit since it can be in hero or alter-ego form.

Physical Resource Requirement: What Doesn't Kill Me and Ready for a Fight both require at least 1 physical resource when paying for them. Since these are the core cards of this deck, we have mostly physical resources in this list and the Quincarrier/Web-Shooter can also help us fulfill this requirement. The Power of Protection is also really handy to pay for What Doesn't Kill Me.

Energy Resource Requirement: 1 copy of Energy Shield. It's not a forced interrupt so we don't have to trigger it, but having that extra protection against ping damage can be extremely beneficial throughout the course of a game and Spidey has the economy and resource requirements to pay for it. In my testing of this deck against Ronan, I used the Power of Protection to generate TWO energy resources for Energy Shield which came in clutch in surviving when he attacked for 10 damage!

Playstyle

The playstyle here is to take hits, roll with the punches, flip down to alter-ego to have Aunt May/Dr. Sinclair heal us and get back up to fight again. Symbiote Suit increases our pool of hit points so we can consistently play What Doesn’t Kill Me and be Ready for a Fight!

Love the Jocasta synergizing with Backflip

@fluffyseaotter Yesss that's a classic MC combo. Ronan had overkill/piercing with Fanaticism but Jocasta helped Spidey do a triple Backflip across 2 turns hah

The Aunt May Dr. Sinclair synergy is sick. Might be better off running The Power in All of Us than The Power of Protection due to the number of high-cost basics you have here. I'd replace Starhawk then with a basic ally with more thwart or squeeze in a third Ready for a Fight.

@Stretch Love the 2 healers teaming up! And yea I was heavily debating between The Power in All of Us (8 targets) vs The Power of Protection (8 targets). I opted to make the deck more green since the What Doesn't Kill Me, Energy Shield, and Starhawk to an extent are more replayable/need constant resources compared to the big basic supports like Quincarrier. But I agree leaning more towards basic cards and basic allies definitely work well here especially when paying for Moon Girl! Great suggestion :)

@Web-Warrior Fanatic your videos have helped me deck build. I'm all in on Ready for a Fight and have built multiple RFAF decks, including one I just did on Spider-Man. It was using Spidey's card draw power to set up turns with Change of Fortune to get lots of card draw; and because I was trying to go into AE and then back up again almost every turn (especially after I went through deck once), I was able to deal with threat mitigation. Once ally that works well with Protection is Spider-Byte because of the Web-Shooter. I use your strategy for Moon Girl. Using RFAF really allowed me to get heroes I don't play that much on the table. And keep making awesome videos. Hope you can come to the Con Of Heroes one year.
