Come and get your love, Ronan!
When I first played Star Lord, I built a justice deck due to the high damage output this deck inherently has. However, I felt that I was rarely playing the justice cards and constantly dug for Star Lord's cards. I pivoted and tried to build an aggression deck in order to rush the villain, revolving around his ability to gain aerial. I ran into not being able to thwart quite enough.
Why not do both?
Star Lord's ability to discount cards by 3 allows you to easily play high cost allies or get your set up out earlier than you should. Playing a helicarrier for free round one and using that to discount an avenger's mansion is possible with Starlord. Using this ability to set up faster than most will benefit him very quickly.
His passive ability to make all allies Guardians makes good use for Blaze of Glory, Rocket will take out those anoying patrol minions while Groot constantly blocks hits for you, and Nova prime (with all those upgrades) will punch through the villain in no time. Making him your sidekick allows for Side by Side to deal some major damage.
If you aren't able to find Nova Prime, you can upgrade Yondu's attack to hit hard with no consequential damage every round.
Once all upgrades and/or supports are out along with four allies, you are dealing with an incredibly thin deck, to the point where you can spam Daring Escape with Sliding Shot.
The thematic chaos that Star Lord causes is balanced by the insane output from his element guns, a hand size of 8 in hero form, and insane output from Nova Prime and Yondu.
Between it all comes my favorite deck in the game!
