Introduction
Wonder Man is a beast. This is my attempt at making him as powerful as possible.
Deckbuilding notes
Simon's kit is strong. His events are efficient and flexible. Ionic Physiology generates a ton of healing and damage. Energy Siphon is perhaps the most disgusting turn-1 draw in the game. There's a lot to love.
My general goal with Simon is to charge up and discharge Ionic Physiology every turn. The damage and sustain are just unreal, making our already-busted events even stronger.
Although signature events are generally our best option for damage and thwarting, defense events just aren't that great as long as chump blocking is viable. So we're naturally bringing a swarm of OP allies. The stored value also helps smooth out our turns.
To push things even further, we can use the new "Avenge Me!" which boosts our power level even higher.
Allies
- Ant-Man has a cool synergy with Mr. Hollywood.
- Beast can draw a 2, 3, or even 4-value resource card.
- Kaluu helps us find our amazing events before he is quickly avenged.
- Kid Omega, Maria Hill, and White Tiger are all very efficient targets for Avenge Me.
- Nick Fury and Professor X are also fantastic Avenge Me targets since they want to chump block immediately.
- Spider-Man has strong synergy with Command Team.
Events
We'll be going through our deck fast enough to repeatedly slam our flexible signature events. We can be pretty picky about what else we add.
- Everywhere All at Once is a card that scales based on how desperately we need it, which is pretty epic. We also like the energy resource and overpay mechanics. This shores up our main weakness, since we mostly want to be punching.
- Make the Call helps us recur our best allies for the given situation.
Resources
Energy Siphon is nuts, so we don't need a ton of extra resources.
- Band Together will quickly ramp up to 2-3 value.
- Energy is the only basic double we care about.
Supports
- Avengers Mansion with Energy Siphon is an absurd turn 1. We're going to be so rich it would be silly not to buy a mansion.
- Command Team has synergy with Nick Fury, Professor X, and Spider-Man. It also enables us to trade value for tempo with Avenge Me; we can use consequential damage to knock out our allies faster, letting us draw cards from Avenge Me sooner.
- Quincarrier helps overpay for things.
Upgrades
- "Avenge Me!" is a new staple for ally swarm decks. The value is absurd.
- Clarity of Purpose is particularly good on Wonder Man because he can immediately heal back the damage with Ionic Physiology.
- Endurance remains the best healing spell in the game and gives us a bigger buffer to work with.
Sideboard
- Build Support is worth considering if nobody else is bringing it.
- Defiance is worth adding against particularly nasty boost effects; it's very cheap food for Ionic Physiology.
- Helicarrier is an okay replacement for Quincarrier if somebody needs it more. It doesn't work with Active Altruism, though.
