Designed to bridge the gap between comic readers and the Guardians of the Galaxy film released in August of 2014, Brian Michael Bendis with art by Nick Bradshaw, opened a new chapter in the ongoing series, primarily serving as an introduction to new members and as a "death-defying" launching point for the team.
The image above is the alternate cover featuring Nova rather than Star Lord. This is reflected in the deck by a Cameo of Nova Prime from the Star Lord hero kit. Included is Sidekick to give extra HP but not Side-by-Side in order to avoid deck bloat. Venom stays lean and mean with his signature events plus Suit Up to find allies and upgrades along with Welcome Aboard to make the allies easier to play.
Three copies of Clarity of Purpose, each can be tutored by Suit Up, are including, one for Venom, one for Groot to turn his renewable health pool into a resource generator, and one for kicks to make sure they get in to play ASAP. Reinforced Suit boosts HP for Groot and Nova Prime. Inspired gets more output from Drax and Rocket. Rapid Response Captain Marvel in for extra damage and, on a lucky day, a stun.
Alternatively, swap Captain Marvel or Cameo/Nova Prime for Star Lord.
