Tank the Rainbow

Mama always said, Adam Warlock is like a handful of skittles, you never know what you're gonna get.

Adam Warlock has one of the most powerful healing cards of the game in Soul World, and with access to every Conditioning card, and plenty of deck manipulation to get them on the table as fast as possible, this deck aims to get the full use out of Soul World by pumping Warlock's max HP to 33.

The thing I like about this deck is that big numbers are fun! As long as we're pumping up stats, I figured might as well include Go All Out and Push Ahead. Ending the turn by thwarting or attacking for 15 with a single card, then flipping down and healing for 30+ just feels... fun. I played a version of this deck through the campaign at Con of Heroes and I had a smile on my face the whole time.

Some notes:

  • Take every villain attack you can in the face, and defend for as many players as you can. You will have plenty of room to soak damage. I'd like to have included more cards to pull attacks, but I've found each one of the protection cards is pretty crucial. Dauntless was another card I'd really like to have room for, but alas.
  • You should try to play Ready for a Fight every deck cycle if possible. It allows you to get your Soul World heal without sacrificing a villain phase in Alter Ego. Ideally time it so you either flip down when you're the first player, or when the first player flips down and you can trigger it on their scheme. This way you'll never have to spend a villain phase in Alter-Ego and you can keep defending the table as much as possible.
  • I never play Captain Marvel directly. She's a target for Summoning Spell, a card that has crazy value (getting an ally on the table as well as speeding up the Soul World cycle).
  • Audacity is a low key great card. Having the single damage to ping toughness is really great in a lot of scenarios.

Thanks to Andrew ? for inspiring the initial idea, and to andyr and Footballcoach for their ideas on deck adjustments, and thanks especially to Trey and Jack for letting me join them for an incredible campaign at the con. I had so much fun trying a hero that had never really clicked for me, and it reminded me that one of my favorite parts of the game is just how many unique ways there are to play.
