This One Is For Joe

So Joe (from the stunned and confused podcast), you wanted a Groot Aggression deck? Look at this baby.

It's built around Energy Spear and Boot Camp to buff your Guardian allies. Drax attacking the villain for 5 or 6 damage every turn makes the game REAL short. And Bug can do it every turn with some help from his buddy Groot.

Big Guardian allies team up nicely with the Avengers too, using As One! For two resources you can exhaust a 5 ATK Guardian and a 3 ATK Avenger to deal 8 damage, 10 if Boot Camp is in play! There are some really decent 3 ATK Avengers too. Thor gives you a free block with his tough and can take out a bunch of minions at once, Hulk can block one or two minion attacks, and Wasp is nearly free to play (or a good resource dump for energy resources).

To make this not just a Guardian deck but a real Groot deck, we pay some lip service to his need for growth counters by including some confusion so we can flip safely. There are only two cards we can play in Aggression and Basic that confuse the villain (Psylocke and Prof. X) so we include both. We also have plenty of other blockers like Nick Fury, Prof. X, Thor and Throg to block villain attacks so we save our growth counters. Eventually we can build up a nice stash so we can fire off those Groot events or use our upgrades.
