I'ven trying to explore Luke's potential for some time now and I see most people have the same Idea as I at first...either trying to go for Protection to generate extra tough cards or use Leadership to have alies protect Luke. While this can work, I found it to not be quite enough against Ronan, as I would no produce enough tough cards or he would hack trough my alies way too quickly.
Then, I found this Groot deck by Web-Warrior Fanatic. It would use Under Surveliance and scrying to provide safer flips into alter ego (so it is not reliant on the villain being suceseptible to confuse). Trying that felt great! I found that, if Luke can flip down enough times, he can amass more than enough tough cards with his kit only and basic recovery was very fine to keep him healthy. The rest of the deck has a powerful S.H.I.E.L.D. package with a lot of threat removal and the capacity to voltron alies (which Luke will be very effective at protecting).
Web-Warrior Fanatic original post does a better job at explain the deck than I will ever be able to do, but the 2 decks have a few diferences. First, Luke's hero upgrades are VERY important. The Bracers and Power Man should be a priority and Burstein Process turn 1 is non-negotiable. Second, I made a few changes to the original deck. Luke's economy is a bit lacking, so I removed the most expensive cards: Avengers Mansion an Dum Dum Dungan. Also removed Deft Focus as it is sadly useless for Luke Cage. The cards I adde where Agent Coulson and Counterintelligence for even easier flips and Build Support to get Helicarrier a bit easier.
I hope this can help into playing Luke Cage. I had a lot of fun with this deck and I think it is very powerful. Ive been able to beat Expert Ronan and Venom Goblin with good consistency once I got the gang of it. I'd love to know if someone also try it out and have any suggestions as I want to make even better if possible. I really enjoy Luke Cage and would like to see how powerful we can built him
