You only need to show Maya Lopez a technique once. The next time, she'll make it her own.
The Art of Imitation
This Protection deck is built around Echo's greatest weapon: her ability to observe, memorize, and reproduce combat techniques.
Rather than relying on a traditional defensive strategy, Echo turns her opponents' aggression into opportunities to strike back.
Photographic Reflexes ×6 is at the heart of the deck, allowing Maya to store events beneath her identity and reproduce them through her unique abilities.
Study the Tape ×2 helps support this engine, giving Echo more ways to prepare the right technique for the right situation.
The goal is to build a flexible collection of moves that Echo can call upon when needed.
Protection That Hits Back
This isn't a deck that simply blocks attacks.
Bait and Switch ×3 helps control threat while encouraging the villain to attack Echo.
Taunt ×3 creates additional opportunities to face the villain while drawing cards.
And when it's time to retaliate, Echo has plenty of options:
- Powerful Punch ×3 delivers serious damage during the villain phase.
- Hard Knocks ×3 provides offensive pressure while rewarding enemy defeats with Tough.
- The Best Offense… ×3 and Stop Hitting Yourself! ×3 reinforce her aggressive approach to Protection.
Each event is another combat technique that Maya can potentially learn and reuse.
Learn It Once. Use It Again.
Hard Knocks is particularly interesting when stored beneath Echo's identity.
Instead of being limited to a single use from her hand, Maya can reproduce the attack through her mimicking abilities, potentially gaining Tough whenever she finishes an enemy.
This turns an ordinary Protection attack into a repeatable offensive and defensive tool.
Choreography, Improvisation, and Muscle Memory further reinforce Echo's ability to adapt and make the most of her available techniques.
Meanwhile, Echo's Katana gives her another way to bring the fight directly to her enemies.
The Last One Standing
Echo doesn't need a large team.
Daredevil provides thematic and tactical support, while The Rez and her defensive upgrades help her remain in the fight.
Armored Vest, Defensive Conditioning, Ronin, and Stand Alone contribute to her staying power, allowing her to keep using the techniques she has mastered.
The result is a Protection deck that combines defensive resilience, direct damage, threat control, and a uniquely adaptable event engine.
No Second Chances
Echo doesn't fight by following a fixed routine.
She studies her enemies, prepares her techniques, and responds with exactly the right move.
Watch the attack. Learn the technique. Make it yours.
Against Echo, the worst mistake you can make is showing her your best move.
Watch. Learn. Repeat.
