Spider-man seems to be the best (only?) choice for an Expert Protection deck at the moment - his Hero power relies on him being consistently attacked (good synergy with Get Behind Me!! and Indomitable), he has high DEF (augmented by Armored Vest), and a decent ATK to take advantage of Counter-Punch (which isn't a grrrreat card, but it's cheaper than Haymaker and replaces itself through his Hero power)
Spidey himself has an amazing suite of cards. Most heroes have at least one lacklustre component , or rely on getting draws in the right order, but Spidey has consistent quality and versatility - damage mitigation, burst, heals, threat reduction, and the bane of the Tough keyword and Ultron Drones, Black Cat.
This deck can pretty consistently beat Klaw and Ultron on EXP - the variance of those match ups is countered by a suite of incredible control cards:
Widow in particular is amazing. Her power works on any revealed card, as opposed to ESS and GBM! which only hit Treachery. Flip a The Doomsday Chair or Biomechanical Upgrades onto MODOK, Widow can just say no.
Luke Cage and his 5 Health/Tough also shine, and 3 x Med Team mean your Allies just stick to the board the entire game. Don't be afraid to use Team tokens on Widow to keep her alive and Thwarting - like must control decks, this one has a slow start, and Spidey's low THW means Natasha's going to be doing a lot of heavy lifting to keep threat in check.

The only thing that I find off is no power of protection maybe I'm just bad and not seeing why you would not play it but draw power with Spidey dose seem like you rather just not have it
