This deck is primarily centered around rewarding your thwarting with consequential damage to the enemy, including justice attacks, and loading up Psionic/X-Men allies and cards. I've also tried to include as many resources possible for Phoenix to play her hero specific cards because she is a little high cost.

This deck works well teamed up with Aggression heros or playing against Villains with minion heavy or side scheme heavy decks.

And for God's sake get to Unleashed as fast as possible.

Allies:

The allies chosen were to try to get maximum thwarting while also taking advantage of double resource cards for Justice and Psionic traits. Colossus is one of my favorite X-Men allies as he can be a 3 for 9 damage card if you don't use him as a meat shield. Readying Phoenix with Professor X after he comes in gives you a lot of flexibility in your turn. Cerebro can also search for all of these allies while they are in your deck.

Events

Get into Unleashed aka Crazy Mode as soon as possible. Phoenix's events all become significantly better when played in Unleashed. The next two cards are probably played the least but I find Swift Retribution is best to play early in the game as you can usually thwart away any villian scheme and Psychic Manipulation is best to get in when the other member of your team is in alter ego. Also note that Psychic Blast is not an "attack" and can therefore bypass a stun. Telekinetic Attack is obviously the big bop.

Thwart Combo

The Followed to Turn the Tide combo is quite fun, especially if you can get both cards in your hand and a side scheme to 3 or less (Phoenix's basic thwart as restrained) before your play. This essentially allows you to do 7 damage to an enemy while thwarting a side scheme and playing 2-3 cards.

Upgrades

Shout out to Mind Control as being one of my favorite cards in the game. It's really fun if you can control a minion that has 6 or more hit points. Rise from the Ashes and Telekinetic Shield are great for if things start to get a bit hairy in the end game or if you want to beef up your defence. Phoenix Suit might be the least valuable card in this deck.

Resources

Having the The Power of the Mind is a must based on how many Psionic cards Phoenix has.

Supports

As mentioned, Cerebro with Psionic allows you to search for all of your allies in your deck. The The X-Jet is another good early game play.

Seems like a natural fit for Befuddle?

That's a great point, thanks for pointing that out. I think that could certainly be flexed in for Swift Retribution or a resource if you wanted more potential hits to minions in your first 4 turns as restrained.

I think the Swift Retribution-Psionic Misdirection combo is really clever actually! Force the villain to remove scheme AND take damage for their trouble!
