Most of us on Marvel CDB have done an Adam Warlock Voltron deck, but up until now it's been focused on healing him to get more activations. With the addition of Wingman, any other Aerial ally can prevent the consequential damage, keeping Adam around forever. So if we can prevent consequential damage, why not add a Sky Cycle so that he can activate more often? So he will need to be an Honorary Avenger to use that tech. How can we reliably get an ally and an upgrade on the board fast? That's right... Suit up.

  • hard Mulligan for Suit up (with three copies, there's a good chance you'll see it, but Cap can usually survive even if you whiff due to his flexibility)
  • Grab Adam Warlock and Honorary Avenger. Play them both along with your Shield (using Steve's ally discount)
  • Once Adam is an avenger, he's eligible for Sky Cycle, giving him 2 activations per turn. (though if you have another Avenger ally, they might take the first Sky Cycle... see next point)
  • Any other Avenger with Sky Cycle and Wingman eliminates consequential damage on Adam, though they will need to be played in that order (since Wingman has the Aerial restriction)
  • If you have the room to flip down, using Suit Up one more time can bring the other pieces of the puzzle into your hand very quickly.

Cap defends every turn, and then you tailor your hand to get exactly what you want out of Adam's two activations. You can do this by playing cards and/or using "I can do this all day" until you have the resource icons you want remaining in your hand.

Then Voltron Adam Warlock with Sidearm and Inspired and Powered Gauntlets, with Mighty Avengers being icing on the cake.

Quincarrier and Super-Soldier Serum are good to have down, because they let you play 1-cost cards easily (which is most of this deck). As long as you have Adam down, you can get by even if the board state means you cannot prioritize them during your first deck pass.

Once you've completed the first deck pass, you should be set up, and there will be an overwhelming majority of mental and physical resources remaining in the deck. With two activations from Adam and two uses of his Response, along with probably one activation from Captain America himself, you can reliably deal with the board state and make some progress towards victory.

I put this deck together last month (using a stand-in for Wingman) and it works pretty well. It's quite consistent, even in expert mode, due to the quick set-up and redundancies (multiple Wingman targets, extra copies of key upgrades). This could work with most of the Avengers, but I hadn't played Captain America in a while, and no other avengers have so many Mental/Physical resources or the ability to tailor your hand to control what you're getting from Adam Warlock. Also, "Adam and Natasha" or "Adam and Thor" doesn't have the same "headline" factor.

Love it! Adam is such a fun ally—we talked about him in a recent episode that was super fun.

@boomguy thanks, man! Like you guys said, he's kind of a "build around" ally. I was trying to make this work with other avengers (Giant-Man or Spectrum or She-Hulk) and you can make other allies work this way. Any avenger or honorary avenger can be aerial with the sky cycle. But when you're trying to do too much, the deck gets busy.
