“Hello…hello…we have an emergency here. Can you send someone right away?

“Of course. We have the perfect person here. She’s on her way.”

It has dawned on my that I can fall into lazy tropes when deck-building, so I’m really trying to pick a theme based on a hero ability and work with that to get the best out of them.

So, Ghost-Spider then.

Enter ability: Response: After you resolve an "Interrupt" or "Response" ability on an event, ready Ghost-Spider. (Limit once per phase.)

She is, of course, Protection as standard. So let’s lean into this as much as we can.

Upgrades

Endurance for some hit points increase and Armored Vest to get her to base 4 DEF, boosting Events. Hard to Ignore offers threat removal and Electrostatic Armor for some retaliation. And a new card in Ready for a Fight from Silk’s deck, meaning you’re not penalised for dropping down and can likely ready-up too.

Supports

Helicarrier and Web of Life and Destiny, of course. Angel's Aerie is a very useful card when defending every turn and another new Silk card Dr. Sinclair works very nicely too.

Allies

All web-heads too, where Spider-Man offers card draw with Web-Bracelet and Spider-Byte should come in at a reduced cost thanks to Web-Bracelet and Electrostatic Armor.

Events

Mainly Response or Interrupt based here, where I’ve tried to pick out the most effective in terms of cost and result. So, Riposte as a 1 cost for 3 damage; decent. Not Today! as a 1 cost for 2 threat removal; not bad. And [Expert Defense (/card/03033) simply to make sure you don’t take damage for 0 cost. Any of which will ready Gwen. To finish, Across the Spider-Verse helps to dig out an ally.

So as it goes, with her own cards too, she’ll always be ready for action.
