hawkeye

This deck I put together for a 2-player game however, I've tested it out in solo, and Clint seems to handle it well enough...!

I Get By with a Little Help From My...Global Secret Agent Organization

This deck primarily leans into Hawkeye's affiliation with S.H.I.E.L.D. At the time of this deck build, the S.H.I.E.L.D. archteype is incredibly strong, so much of this shores up Hawkeye's deficiencies - namely survivability and thwarting.

We're Here to Help

Allies for this deck will be used to assist in thwarting, as well as SHIELD (see what I did there?) Hawkeye from any large attacks. I don't want to call it chump blocking because these agents are far from chumps...let's call it Strategic Intereference. Not only this, but some of th eallies have some nifty tricks -

Agent 13 can ready up a S.H.I.E.L.D support (and we have a fair few of them!);

Monica Chang can bring in the Surveillance Teams and replenish the ones currently on the board;

Nick Fury is Nick - enough said;

Agent Coulson fishes out Intelligence for you...even if only for a resource. He also thwarts well too;

Mockingbird is clutch in this deck as she protects Clint and can be recurred. Try to activate her at least twice to get value out of her before having her leap in front of that attack (what an amazing wife!);

The remaining allies are lesser important in the sense that they provide added value - Vivian is the fish out of water here, but her ability to neuter an attachment, side scheme or minion is might handy. Spider-Woman can give you a bit of attack...but her and any of the other S.H.I.E.L.D. allies can also be used for Homeland Intervention.

Homeland Intervention

This card is the only added event card in the deck, however with all the S.H.I.E.L.D. cards in this deck, it provides a good burst of thwart (i.e 6THWT max). If your Surveillance Team is running low on snoop counters, or your allies are on their last activation - exhaust them to keep them around and thwart big!

Remember too, this card also works in alter-ego (Hawkeye in AE is also S.H.I.E.L.D. traited...so he can be used too!) so get that threat down as you heal up and your next hand at 6 cards.

S.H.I.E.L.D. - The Ultimate Sidekick

The S.H.I.E.L.D. supports are crucial to getting this deck to hum - they reduce costs, assist with damage and also can be used to trigger Homeland Intervention (as mentioned above).

If you get allies out early, look to play Field Agent to keep the allies out there;

Either Helicarrier or Government Liaison will help with costs - and if you have Agent 13 in play, she can give you an additional cost reduction by readying one of these. I'd prioritise Government Liaison first and would look to get Helicarrier mid-game;

Surveillance Team is great and look to put one of these out even before you play Monica Chang. They can be used for Homeland Intervention, or when Monica Chang does come into play, she gives any that you have on the board, one extra snoop counter;

Sky-Destroyer is a strange one. You could play it early game...then you reap the benefits of it's response as you build your board with S.H.I.E.L.D supports and allies; or you could look to prioritise it mid to late game and rely on playing allies of Homeland Intervention to trigger it. As with any of the above, it all depends on the particular situation you face...so see if you need to play anything else as a priority to manage an immediate issue...otherwise...BOMBS AWAY!

Vigilante Training is added here to recur your Homeland Intervention. Not super high priority, but if you find your self able to flip down because of low threat, look to use this to add Homeland Intervention back in your deck...just gives you that slight reassurance that you will have a huge burst of thwart available should you need it.

Hawkeye Can Handle His Own

Finally, upgrades added are included to help Clint thwart, as well as mitigate any nasty encounter cards .

Disguise is good because in either alter-ego or hero form, Clint can thwart for 2...you won't be doing this that often, but it's handy to have in a pinch.

Intelligence is used in conjunction with Agent Coulson and again, not super high priority - but if you have a chance, play this on the table to avoid the dreaded Advance or Shadow of the Past.

Two Skilled Investigator cards are for both players (as mentioned this is originally a deck for a 2-player game) and with the amount of thwarting this deck can do, it'd be silly not to include an easy card draw.

I Never Miss

So there you have it - Hawkeye with all his S.H.I.E.L.D. buddies there to stoop any scheme. Whilst all this happens, don't forget to prioritise Hawkeye's Quiver to start stocking up on arrows. Be sure not to ignore playing your arrows as you build your S.H.I.E.L.D. engine... stunning or confusing the villain with Electric Arrow or Sonic Arrow can go a long way in helping you build. Cable Arrow can also help keep things under control until S.H.I.E.L.D. are established.

Once fully built, then prioritise Vibranium Arrow, Explosive Arrow and even Clint's basic attack, to start dealing damage for the win!

Happy to have seen this in action, and it performed well!

Haha thanks @boomguy! Definitely doesn't make him the strongest with his low hp still heavily relying on allies to block... but yeah, it was super fun!
