Since she was released, Rogue has always felt at odds with herself. She is ok at most things, but lacked a cohesive playstyle. I think that has changed with the release of Psylocke. Thanks to some excellent cards such as Cypher, Upside the Head, Float Like a Butterfly, and Concussive Blow, Rogue is ready to do some damage! But the fun part is that she does it in a very in-character manner…she has to talk trash and display her southern charm on her enemies first. It all makes Rogue feel great to play.
Some combos and key cards: You want to mulligan for Rogue's Jacket, Float Like a Butterfly, and either The X-Jet or X-Gene. If you get 2/3 of these, you are pretty much set for the rest of the game.
First, use Touchedon the villain. This gives Rogue Retaliate (more damage!) and activates both Goin' Rogue and Southern Cross.
Put a confuse status on the enemy (take your pick how you want to do this…you have a total of 14 ways of doing it). Then put on her jacket and send her floating like a butterfly because Rogue is now dealing 4 damage from just basic attacks. Throw in an Upside the Head, and a basic attack deals 4 AND Stuns! Scare Tactic is now dealing 4 damage for 1 resource (talk about efficient). Cypher is dealing 2 and drawing 1 (again…crazy value)
All of this adds up to Rogue dropping massive damage every turn and completely locking out the villain for several rounds thanks to both her ability to confuse and stun them.
Rogue has always been one of my favorite X-Men and now I think she finally has a chance to shine. Enjoy!
