I love Gambit, the character and his hero pack. His kit is powerful, fun, and allows him to be a jack of all trades. I love his Charge de Card mechanic and how it works with his Charged Playing Cards, but I was pretty underwhelmed by his other signature weapon. Maybe I'm not understanding the design behind it, but to me it should have been more than what is essentially a one-time use Retaliate and included some kind of interaction with Charge de Card or Throw de Card. The goal for this deck was to build around enabling him to use his staff for something other than poking an enemy and have some fun doing it. I've enjoyed playing this, but know it is far from perfect.


Allies:

Low cost, mostly to activate Utopia and provide blocks if it doesn't look like Gambit could activate his Armor. Gambit needs be ready as much as possible so he can Swing, Smash, and be a Thief Extraordinaire.


Events:

Mean Swing is the Main Event, the card this deck is built around. Let Gambit use his staff! We also don't want the villain to feel left out if we are engaged with a minion. Activate your sidearm to blast them both away and become the Ragin' Cajun.

I had considered Fusillade instead, but it would require 3 charges to do the same amount damage as the Mean Swing/Combat Training/Fluid Motion combo, for every attack. That is a lot of charges to generate. If you include Specialized Training, Mean Swing deals 1 more damage and also gives you a card! I ended up going with the "Mean & Fluid Combat" Combo because I was going to include Smash the Problem and Test the Defense so I felt it had better synergy. That being said, Fusillade does not require Gambit to exhaust or play two event cards to do its base damage so it could be more consistent. It is an ATTACK event so adds a counter to Test the Defense and doesn't require nearly as much setup to make work. I feel it could work either way, but haven't tested it yet.

Not able to Swing at something after going with the Flow? Smash through the villain's schemes instead! This card can also be charged up with Fluid Motion to do some serious threat removal.

With Combat Training, Combat Specialist, and both Fluid Motions activated, you will be attacking for 9 damage (and drawing a card) with Mean Swing or removing 6 threat with Smash the Problem.

Start your turn playing Clobber twice to activate both Fluid Motions in order to charge up your staff. Continue clobbering away at the enemy's Defense until Gambit can turn all that potential energy to kinetic energy and blast an enemy away. Then Remy can use what he has learned training in the Danger Room to do it again. When you don't have one of these in hand, a couple of Charged Cards can do the trick too.

Royal Flush is a bit expensive, but can be useful when you have some extra charges and want to nuke the villain or do some crowd control.


PSS, Supports, and Upgrades:

Hand Cannon, as I alluded to above, is for applying Overkill to a basic attack against minions so your increased ATK is not wasted on them. This is especially useful if you don't have the charges or resources necessary for a Charged Card Overkill.

Specialized Training is the extra card. It provides some great benefits and can be Smashed to complete it quickly, but it isn't absolutely necessary for this build. Drop it if you want a 40 card deck or if playing multiplayer with someone who included it. Always go for Combat Specialist with this one.

Honorary X-Men pairs with The X-Jet and Utopia to allow Remy to benefit with them even in AE. This allows him to ready after using Thief Extraordinaire and generate a resource for the card drawn by The Thieves Guild, if needed. This is not absolutely necessary, so you could consider dropping this for another copy of Assault Training.

Test the Defense and Blood Rage were included just to test out some newly released cards (admittedly, I included TTD because it has Gambit on it as well)... so either could be substituted for an Assault Training. Just note, Blood Rage was the inspiration for the name of the deck so without it, the deck would just be called "Cajun"...


I appreciate you taking the time to read through this! The main goal behind this deck was to be thematic and fun, not necessarily optimized. Regardless, I am newer to deckbuilding for this game and welcome all feedback! It would help tremendously.
