Take notice that all reoccurring cards are wild or strength resources. This allows the deck to operate at max efficiency. The only drawback are villain attachments or any other card requiring specific resources to remove. However, with Quincarrier, wild cards, and Ingenuity you can remove most if not all. Of course, this is also only a problem if you are playing solo. With Hulk you need to be patient and efficient in the beginning because his hand size is only 4 AND you have to discard any leftover cards.
- Get supports and upgrades out ASAP with some leeway when certain allies appear.
- Manage scheme with event cards and allies.
- Play defense events and defend when needed.
- Attack when the opportunity presents itself.
Hulk has no problem dealing damage so you can put that on the back burner while you get everything else in place. CliffNotes version, you survive and whittle away at the villain until you can get a Hulk Smash to appear and then you pop the villain in the mouth for 14 hit points.
With an abundance of hit points, a defense of 3, and Armored Vest you can remain in hero mode almost indefinitely with allies.
Your main threat is scheme because Hulk has 0 thwart and only two thwart cards. Aside from supports and upgrades you want Blade and Warlock ASAP. These two are Hulks best friend. With one or both out scheme is very manageable.
Jump Flip is included to help with scheme and conserve hit points.
Helicarrier, Quincarrier, and Ingenuity are provided to help with villain attachments and paying for cards since Hulk has a 4 card hand.
Avengers Mansion is expensive especially for Hulk but if you can get it out it pays for itself, bringing him to a 5 card hand.
Limitless Stamina and most of Hulks cards are Superpowers so Deft Focus is a must. You can end villains real quick with Hulk Smash and Limitless Stamina. I know Hulk has Unstoppable Force but with Deft Focus, Limitless Stamina is a free card and continually readying Hulk and pounding on the villain is not a bad thing.
With a base attack of 3 or 4 (Boundless Rage), Counter-Punch is included to allow hulk to defend and deal considerable damage for zero cost.
We already discussed the importance of Blade and Warlock.
Charlie-27 is expensive but he is a nice blocker and you should be able to get him out later with the help of support cards.
Clea & Daredevil are cheap blockers with a strength resource.
Iron Fist is expensive but he is awesome. You get to hit the villain for 6 hit points, stun them TWICE, and then get a chump block. FYI, his counterpart Psylocke.
Machine Man is a cheap blocker OR he can be a badass when coupled with Strength or Limitless Strength.
