Dr Strange Justice deck I made for Assemble con in Hartford. Key card is Gunboat Diplomacy, with Children of the Atom and Mission Training to make the combo more reliable.
Wouldn't miss it for the World
It's been done and it's been overdone. Gunboat Diplomacy is a strong justice card (and a value deal). It just reuires a little setup. I'm not looking to break the card here, but you don't need "Gamer Greed" numbers to make it a solid play.
- you'll need two of the X-allies along with Children of the Atom (Wolfsbane is here in case you're struggling to get the combo working)
- Ideally, the third ally is Wong, becasue of his utility and synergy with Dr Strange playstyle.
- once you have two on the board, play Gunboat Diplomacy once per turn. Use Spiritual Meditation and Winds of Watoomb to find a copy if you're missing it.
- Ideally, a copy of Mission Training for your two diplomats brings the output from 4/4 to 6/6
- use Dr Strange to defend and/or play Invocations
- Once you're set up, extra copies of Children of the Atom and Mission Training can be played elsewhere on the multiplayer table to help with reliability (making sure you have Diplomats) and to thin your deck.
Strange Sideboard
Some other cards that would work well, but don't quite make the cut
- Heroic Intuition with one free ready, it can be goo thwarting value (but it's not as valuable as using his activation for the invocation). Still it can give you something to do if you can't afford Crimson Bands of Cyttorak or if you can't cycle Vapors of Valtorr
- Sense of Justice can give you a free resource to play Gunboat Diplomacy or Astral Projection. Might be good to include in a 4 player game, when the game runs longer, or if you include 1-2 more thwart event cards
- Overwatch, because doubling your thwart for 1 ER is cash money.
- Skilled Investigator x 3 because everyone likes to have a "incentive" to finish those pesky side schemes.

Feb 13, 2026I think bringing Gunboat on Strange is pretty cool and actually effective. The extra CotA copies can easily power invocations every turn, so they never return void. I personally wouldn't mind a few extra cards for multiplayer, so some of your sideboard cards are good choices and also Even the Odds, depending on the encounter. Party on! |
