Hulk has had a rough history throughout the games lifespan. But...with the new cards...can we fix it? I think we can!
With the release of Fear No Evil, Protection has another ready that's perfect for the Hulk with Army of One. I did not but you could go all in on the prot readies by adding Leading Blow to give Hulk 9 readies from green(!) alone.
But that's not all...Hulk can finally...basic thwart in Protection. I'll hold for applause. No? Ok fine. Well he can! Well...at most 3 turns in a deck pass...but it's something! And yes I know you "could" with Surveillance Specialist or Civic Duty already but... come on. We are pumping up his Def for just that reason to really smash on The Best Offense... turns, but also adding to the payoff for In Harm's Way. Move over Sub-Optimal Leap! Actually having a chance to remove threat plus Ready for a Fight allow him to flip down reliably.
Despite the Def buffs, the gameplan isn't to defend often. We have 25 hit points in kit to use for face tanking. That ensures What Doesn't Kill Me can always ready us up. Flying too close to the sun? Banner's Laboratory + Dr. Sinclair = You're good.
Ronin gives us a nice Retaliate 2 when used with Immovable Object. With that in mind, non-guard minions are great to see for Change of Fortune. On top of that, Minions allow us the option to defend the villain attack and almost assuredly take no damage, and still ready with Stand Alone.
In protection there are now so many cool combos that it's tough to fit them all in one deck. Taunt would be great, the aforementioned Leading Blow, Unflappable, Counter-Punch and True Grit to go all in on The Best Offense..., just so many fun things to do in Green and even for the big green grey guy.
To summarize...can we rush? We're Hulk. Can we play a more controlled game? Now...yes! It might not always be easy being green, but it's a piece of cake when you're grey.
