A justice Nick Fury deck for the Current environment that is designed around searching and building out upgrades and supports as needed through Agent Coulson, Leo Fitz, and player side schemes, then controlling activations and encounter cards during the villain phase.
Current doesn't seem to be too popular at the moment, probably because most people don't want to just ignore 70% of their collection. It's somewhat appealing to me, though, as someone who is missing a bunch of the out of print hero packs anyway. It's also kind of interesting to be forced out of relying on the same old archetypes (e.g. Repurpose) and staple power cards (RIP Professor X)
Agent Coulson has 6 Preparations to potentially find, but will generally be getting Intelligence Analysis (or Practiced Plan if you already have Intelligence).
Leo Fitz has 6 Tech targets, though 2 of them stay out once played. I tend to grab Fury's Flying Car with him early, but he can find you threat prevention, damage shield, or confusion statuses as needed. He can be a bit awkward since he only searches the deck and can only be used while in alter-ego, but he's also a convenient activator for Global Logistics when not searching.
Once you've gone through your deck and built out a bunch of upgrades and supports (along with building up some threat on your suit), subsequent deck cycles become very quick, letting you get to your attack events and unleash big damage to close out the game. The extra encounter cards from cycling are easy to play around with Intelligence Analysis+Practiced Plan, or by stacking the deck with Global Logistics. Infiltration is there for burst threat removal, and Spray Fire takes care of extra minions.
Heroic Intuition will be replaced with the innate version once released; getting to 3 thwart lets you one shot all the player side schemes, and thwarting in general is just a big part of Nick's play pattern because of all the extra scheming. I originally had Generation X in the deck to tutor for a Spray Fire when needed, but found that it just sat on the table most of the time. Prism Dust was originally Informant, but I like having the extra Tech target for Leo and the effects are similar (though I do think Informant is slightly better in general).
Face the Past with Show of Empathy seems good on Nick, but I find that combo kind of cheesy so I tend to avoid it.
I'm honestly not much of a deck builder, but decided to try it out since I haven't seen much activity for Current. I'm really happy with this one and it's been performing well and is a lot of fun, so hopefully it helps a few people out there that only started collecting more recently.
