Hulkling met A Really Good Lawyer recently and he was so inspired he's decided to become a lawyer through his Imitation Shape.* Now he's getting minions into all kinds of Legal Trouble while thwarting villain schemes with his newfound legal expertise(?).
A Hulkling deck built around basic thwarting, cheap events to trigger the shape response(s), and trying to stay in Imitation Shape as much as possible.
-
Boost THW with Heroic Intuition, Heroic Conditioning, and Innate Perception. Surveillance Specialist can be taken from Specialized Training if more thwarting is needed, but other specializations can be useful too.
-
Imitation Shape is fun with the card draw. Under Surveillance and Counterintelligence help mitigate extra villain scheming.
-
Legal Trouble can stall minions while you are in Imitation Shape or alter-ego. Quake can help weaken or defeat these minions.
-
Winged Shape is still solid for thwarting when villain scheming in hero form is too risky.
-
Hulk Shape is great when you need to do damage and is the main form to use when you are ready to rush down the villain.
-
Manifold can help find Superpower Training (for Alien Physiology or an emergency shape change) or Specialized Training. He can stay in play for Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
-
Counterintelligence, Grapnel Launcher, Justice Served, Legal Trouble, Overwatch, and Under Surveillance all provide interesting options and can have copies added or cut based on scenario.
This deck was really fun against Expert Kingpin and is a great use case for Legal Trouble. Stalling his early-game minion swarm and having Super Skrull with Legal Trouble hit Unrelenting Hate for 0 scheme is really satisfying.
Beating Expert Red Skull with this deck was an interesting challenge too. (One Way or Another was cut because I'm not sure it works with Red Skull's special side scheme deck.)
