This deck is part of Project Post-con: building a ready to use deck for each existing hero, just using the available card copies of buying each pack once. This does not only enable fast pick-and-play, but it also makes each deck feel unique, as not everyone is using the same powerhouse cards. Each deck is intended to be fun and usable in expert mode, but none will be the absolute strongest possible due to the card limitations. Looking for other decks? Search for the Post-con tag.

Project Post-con Version 1 (Cards up to a and including Valkyrie release)

Thor really came a long way: from a character I barely used, to one of my favourite aggression builds. And Valkyrie's cards only added to this feeling. A big drawback of Thor has longtime been his 5/4 base hand size, but with this deck some crazy big card draw turns are possible. This deck feels light a light red leadership deck, strongly empowered by The Bifrost. Yes, targets are limited, but keep in mind, there are not that many Asgardians yet and we want to save a few for other decks. Thinking of you, Heimdall. So let's dig into this super fun ruler of Asgard deck.

RESOURCES

Besides the almost obligatory basic resources, I also included the The Power of Aggression cards. These are especially useful with The Bifrost, as you can summon an aggression ally any time you draw one of these.

ALLIES

With The Bifrost, allies are preferably played before they go in your hand, as this makes them 1 less ER as you don't lose the card itself from your hand. Each ally can be useful at another situation adding to versatility.

  • Lady Sif is good to ready Thor when needed and provides good THW.
  • Angela is not only free, but even lets Thor draw cards.
  • Throg is good for defence at low cost and will often have tough, since Thor likes minions.
  • Valkyrie is nice to deal damage to the minions Thor likes to summon and synergises well with his love for resources.
  • Finally, Thor is just fun thematically to fill in the Asgard roster.

UPGRADES

This deck is not too heavy on upgrades, as with heavy card draw, Thor can get sufficient consistency with his events.

  • Mjolnir is great and basically always available to Thor. Together with Combat Training, it gets Thor to a strong 4 ATK.
  • Thor's Helmet is good for some extra bulk, as you sometimes need to tank a lot of minions, but it is not critical to get out early.
  • God of Thunder is essential for good resource availability and a must-play.
  • Battle Fury is very useful to utilise his 4 ATK as much as possible and plays into his thunder love.

SUPPORT

  • Asgard is possibly the most important card in the build to mulligan for. It stops Thor's tripling reduced hand size.
  • The Bifrost is such good card, as it basically reduces the ER of each ally by one, as it doesn't not need to be in your hand. Furthermore, it helps you grab whoever you need, when you need them (as long as they aren't in the discard). Amazing combo with Angela for Thor.
  • Boot Camp is an obvious include to support the Bifrost-summoned allies. It makes sure that those pesky minions you want to engage also get escorted to the exit fast by your fellow Asgardians.
  • Hall of Heroes is good value, as minions is Thor's game, and this adds onto his crazy card draw when battling them.

EVENTS

  • Get Over Here! always seemed a Thor hero card to me, as no-one else benefits as much from it. Mainly in multiplayer, this card is amazing. Else, it is likely an resource.
  • "Bring It!" further gives crazy card draw turns in any scenario which is not to light on minions. Especially as you have enough options to engage them.
  • Chase Them Down is then the logical answer to his low THW to give Thor some threat removal on any scheme in aggression.
  • Defender of the Nine Realms plays well into this minion-loving build for both card draw and threat removal.
  • For Asgard! helps you get the critical cards. Priority should always go to Asgard first, next The Bifrost or God of Thunder are great picks as well, before going to whether the situation calls for. -Hammer Throw and Lightning Strike are strong damage events in high output and spread damage respectively. The high count in this deck should also give a lot of options for the latter.
  • Godllike Stamina finally is wonderful on aggression Asgardians. Not only healing for free, but also removing those detrimental stuns is soooo good. The only reason Thor did not get 3 is that Valkyrie refused to part with the other 2 copies.

In conclusion, Thos is so much fun for smashing minion heavy scenarios, while bathing in cards despite a printed 5/4 hand size.

Played with this deck this morning against Nebula. Even against a villain that doesnt have a ton of minions like her, this deck still packs a punch. I was able to do a 10 pt damage turn without Hammer Throw due to having allies out + boot camp + moljnir and combat training. Gave me the exact damage I needed to finally beat her! Any chance you will be doing a Vision deck soon?

@dicehands Great to hear. Seem to have missed this comment earlier, but Vision is out now. Hope you enjoy it (or enjoyed it if you already tried it by now).
