Want to barely scrape by while setting up a goofy one-turn-kill? Do you enjoy shaky interaction that probably shouldn't work, but technically do? Want to see an ally get in for 30 in a single turn? Enjoy living in magical Christmas land? Good news!
The setup:
- 1x Jubilee in play with 1 damage on her (so attack or thwart once)
- 3x Rapid Response in play, so when Jubilee goes down she comes right back
- 1x Adamantium Skeleton in play for damage boost
- 3x Adrenaline Rush in play for damage boost
- 1x Symbiote Suit in play for damage boost
- 1x Utopia in play to ready Wolverine
- 3x Tenacity in play to ready Wolverine
Preferred inclusions:
- 1x Helicarrier, 1x The X-Jet, 1x Clarity of Purpose, and 3x Resourceful to help pay for cards in hand and Tenacity when the time comes.
- 1x Make the Call in hand
- 1x Sidekick in hand to make Side-by-Side functional (NOT in play)
- 1x-3x Side-by-Side in hand to get more ready (Sidekick needed)
So how does this nightmare of a setup play out if we somehow manage this mess? I'm glad you asked.
Attack (1 damage) with your damaged Jubilee, causing her to be defeated. Rapid Response brings her back, giving both her and Wolverine +2 attack UNTIL THE END OF PHASE, letting her attack for 3 more (total 4 damage). Since she only has 2 hit points, and Rapid Response dealt 1 damage bringing her back, we repeat this process 2 more times. That is an attack 5, and an attack 7, for a total of 16 damage. (Wolverine=0, Jubilee=16, Total=16)
Time to start in with Wolverine. If you have all the damage boost cards from the setup in play, Wolverine goes from 2 attack to 7. Since Jubilee has entered play 3 times already, Wolverine gets an additional +6, going up to 13 attack for his basic attacks. Attack once for 13 damage. (Wolverine=13, Jubilee=16, Total=29)
Use a Make the Call from hand to replay Jubilee. This brings her attack to 9, and Wolverine's to 15. If you have The X-Jet and Clarity of Purpose, this only costs 1 card from hand. Attack with Jubilee, and Wolverine. (Wolverine=28, Jubilee=25, Total=53)
Use Helicarrier to play Sidekick from hand. Use 2 cards from hand to play Side-by-Side. If you only had 5 cards in hand, you will be at 0 now. Ready both and give them both +1 attack. This brings Jubilee's attack to 10, and Wolverine's to 16. (Wolverine=44, Jubilee=35, Total=79)
Depending on how set up you are, you could have been in alter-ego (+1 card), flipped using Moira MacTaggert (+1 card), gotten an extra card from Symbiote Suit (+1 card), and used Avengers Mansion (+1 card). Depending on your combination of additional Side-by-Sides and resources, you could ready twice more, while also gaining +1 attack each time. I feel like this explanation is already stretching the bounds of possibility, so I am not going to include this extra 35 damage from Wolverine, and extra 21 damage from Jubilee. Nobody need that extra 56 damage anyways.
On the other hand, you might have 3x Tenacity, and the 3x Resourceful to pay for them. That is 3 more readies for Wolverine, who has 16 attack. That is another 48 damage. If you do somehow pull off the above (you won't), those attacks are at 18, for 54 damage. We will use the smaller number. (Wolverine=92, Jubilee=35, Total=127)
If you want to add the perfect draw damage, that is (Wolverine=133, Jubilee=56, Total=189)
It is odd that Jubilee does not just add damage to the next basic attack. It is also odd that I was not able to find anything that prevents Jubilee from buffing herself and Wolverine multiple times from being replayed. If you find a rule that makes any of this not work, let me know.
