Inspiration
Magneto is an extremely versatile hero. His Magnetic Pull ability adds so much consistency that he will be able to pull of his mechanics no matter what deck you use. I wanted to take advantage of that to put together a deck list that no other hero would be able to pull off save for The Master of Magnetism.
As proof of concept, I tested this list against Expert Project Wideawake because that scenario counters allies. I figured if it works against that scenario in expert, it should work for all of you as well. Spoilers for the video, but it was a glorious victory!
Deck Concept
Magneto will be able to pull his cards into his hand every turn by discarding off the top of the deck. Digging Deep and White Fox work extremely well with that. The only problem is that if there isn't enough space between your magnetic cards, they can fizzle. That's why this list is 50 cards. It greatly improves the consistency of Digging Deep and White Fox making them worth it!
The most important ally other than White Fox is Lockjaw. Lockjaw can be played from the discard pile. Meaning that as soon as he gets into your discard pile, the worst turn you will have is pulling a magnetic card into your hand, and playing an ally, which isn't that bad! And the best turns will be amazing!
2 Events
Make The Call: This card will let you put an ally from your discard pile into play, and on top of that, since you aren't technically playing the allies, you can bypass restrictions. Since the deck is all allies, it essentially turns your entire discard pile into your hand. Black Panther can also search this card, improving the consistency. I added in 16 of my favorite allies that have unique effects, and I can grab whatever ally I need depending on the situation. I won't go over all of them, but I'll talk about some of the less obvious synergies that I really like:
- Adam Warlock: There are 9 wild resources in this deck to save in your hand for Adam. Every time I used him I was able to get the exact effect I need.
- Ghost-Spider: The ability to search an identity specific event when you need it is game changing!
- Spider-Man: Comes into play with either 3 THW or 4 ATK. Whatever you need in the situation!
- White Queen - Whether the villain is tough, or if you are stunned or confused, she can discard that status in a pinch.
- Spider-Man: Especially against the difficult villains with high boost cards, he can make the difference between winning and losing! I got the final blow with his ability in one of my games!
- M: This ally can defeat tough minions and elite minions with her effect! If the minion has high health, you can basic attack it to get it in her range. And on top of that she has great stats and combos well with the other leadership event in the deck.
Noble Sacrifice:
This card allows you to discard an ally to heal your hero equal to that allies printed hit points AND get a tough status card! The other targets I added are Black Panther with 4 hp, and he can also search the event
Targets For Noble Sacrifice
- Lockjaw combos well with that because of the 4 hp and is an extremely consistent way to make use of Noble Sacrifice.
- Black Panther: has 4 hp, and he can also search the event.
- Groot: has 6 hp! And a powerful effect when you have a bunch of minions engaged with you.
- Any other ally you want can work in a pinch! I used White Fox for it in my plays.
Abundance of Resources
Having 12 resource cards in the deck seems weird, but in my plays it was exceptionally good. Since the deck is 50 cards, it is less likely to see all of them at once. And even if you do. Likely the worst play you'll have is using magnetic pull to grab a Magneto card, and playing lockjaw from the discard pile. Fortunately, this didn't happen to me. And including 2 copies of both The Power of Leadership and The Power in All of Us in addition to the 3 doubles, makes it extremely easy to afford whatever ally you want in your discard. If you have The Power of Leadership in your hand, play a leadership ally, and if you have The Power in All of Us in your hand, play Lockjaw or one of the other powerful basic allies with Make the Call.
Edits
This deck is extremely customizable. If you don't have all of the allies I included in this deck, don't worry! All you really need to play this deck is the Magneto pack, which gives Noble Sacrifice, and the core set, which gives Make the Call, Nick Fury, and Maria Hill. Throw in make the call, and whatever other allies you enjoy that fit your playstyle!

I tested this deck on stream. I will link to the live stream and the individual gameplay videos once they are up so you can see the deck in action!

Nov 19, 2024If Lockjaw is a cornerstone of this deck, I'd imagine including Team Training for an extra activation/block would be useful. |

Nov 26, 2024how are you playing spider man (hobie brown) and ghost spider, since both require web warrior trait to play and I don't see any cards that give your identity web warrior and miles morales as an ally does have web-warrior trait |

Nov 26, 2024Ok, that is good to know. Thank you! |
Dec 01, 2024Looks like a fun deck. I'll be using it on the age of apocalypse campaign but I made a few changes like changing out some of the heroes and other cards for more wild resources cards because of the mission. |

Dec 09, 2024Great deck, really enjoyed playing it! Thank you for sharing :) Did you consider or trial a version with more X-Men allies and Utopia? |

Dec 10, 2024That makes total sense! I’m just getting started on the X-men wave so I don’t even have Utopia yet, but couldn’t resist jumping to Magneto as his cards looked so good. I’ll look forward to trying a version of that myself when I get there! I actually played this version without Digging Deep or White Fox as I haven’t opened NE yet, and it’s still super powerful. Super grateful to creators like you for publishing all these amazing decks. I barely have enough time to play as it is and would rather spend that time playing than deck building, so you really help people like me get the game to the table :) thank you! |

Dec 11, 2024I have just finished playing this deck, paired with Psylocke Aggression, and I must say it has instantly become my favorite way to play Magneto. I've played lots of decks, tried many concepts... This deck feels like Magneto's cards are all in sync. Good job! |

Dec 23, 2024So glad he's out. It seems to me this deck is the best way to play him in the best aspect. Admittedly never knew make the call could work like that. I'll make a few tweaks depending on the villain but otherwise I will be playing this deck exclusively for awhile thank you :) |

Dec 30, 2024This is pretty much how I wanted to build Magneto, even down to the 50 cards. Idk if going up to 50 is actually better, but there's certainly advantages to it here. More choices in the discard + longer time where discard is full before you have to reshuffle. Looks great! |

Dec 30, 2024With 50 cards, how often do you actually draw Make the Call, instead of discarding it? That's all I was worried about. Maybe Erik's AE action mitigates this enough. I might try a version with more X-men allies and use "Won't stay down" for essentially another 3 copies of Make the Call |
Feb 17, 2025Looks really fun, my only suggestion would be changing Deft Focus for Team Building Exercise, it is one extra cost but gives 18 targets instead of the 7 superpowers. |

Feb 24, 2025I love Magnet... I've played him a ton since his release. I have never considered him in this kind of deck! Super solid build! I didn't know that team building exercise doesn't hit for make the Call, so I'm glad I read some of the comments too! Deft focus is SUCH a good card for magneto, though I tend to over resource myself when I build for him. |

May 12, 2025Hello mate. Thanks for this deck. Magneto is my favourite hero and the discard aspect is my favourite to pilot. I really enjoying this list with a couple if tweeks( i am a new player so i have limited card pool) |
Jul 03, 2025What would you replace Legion with if I don't have the card? |
Jul 21, 2025What a great deck! I took on Dark Beast in Expert solo. I went through two total deck passes but only pulled Digging Deep twice. Even so, I only managed to get three upgrades out and still pulled out a win. Although I think I got lucky in avoiding Blue Moon. Savage Land was my last environment and it played into Magneto's Alter Ego quite well. Even with the Digging Deep and White Fox fizzles, I really enjoyed this deck. Thanks! |
Sep 17, 2025This deck looks fun, and I'm going to try it out. :) Don't forget that Spider-Man (Miles Morales) doesn't get his coming-into-play ability if you get him with Make the Call. |

I watched Daring Lime play this deck during the stream. It worked surprisingly well! It would be hard to pull off with most heroes, but between Make the Call, Lockjaw, and Magnetic Pull, there's generally always something to do on your turn. This deck looks like it would be worth a spin if you wanted to try something outside the norm but still fun; this list definitely fits the bill!
