Ready for a Fight: Part V: Ready for a Giant Stomp! (Super-Sized Edition v 2.0)
Part of my Ready for a Fight series of heroes, which is the best way to reframe old heroes.
This is a minor tweak to the earlier version (https://marvelcdb.com/decklist/view/50658/rfaf-part-v-ready-for-a-giant-stomp-1.0) and works better. Adds Ready to Rumble to a total of 2, and loses 3 Indomitable. Biggest change is to add Nova which helps ping down damage on minions to trigger Counter-Punch to get your Change of Fortune extra cards.
This deck mitigates the 4 card hand size of Giant-Man, allowing you to drop down to Alter-Ego more often, using Ready for a Fight, to minimize scheming, and use Ant-Man's Helmet more consistently for healing on the way up and doing damage before you defend and counter-Punch.
The goal is to go into hero mode and back down to Alter-Ego. You won't have to switch from Giant form to Tiny form after your hero turn.
You want to set up minions at 1-2-3 HP so on the villains' turn, you can trigger Change of Fortune for more card draw.
Here are the key cards.
- Ant-Man's Helmet: Hopefully, you can get this out early to trigger Ant-Man's powers.
Almost everything else can be added as you see fit. You should be able to control the board and rinse/repeat using Ready for a Fight to hero up, then power down at the end of the turn. If you get Resize you get your Giant/Tiny bonuses.
As you are building your hero kit, you will get at least 2 techs out so you can play Spider-Byte for free or 1 resource.
If you use Ready for a Fight, you can then use Desperate Defense and Counter-Punch, to punch for 5.
Because you are (Trying to) start in Alter-Ego each turn, you can set up your turn much better than having already been in hero mode.
Here are the other cards and what they do.
-
Quincarrier, useful for physical resources.
-
Armored Vest, ensuring you don't take any damage to trigger Electrostatic Armor, Unflappable and Dauntless.
-
Change of Fortune Key component of this protection deck, setting up to get the largest card draw.
-
Dauntless, once you are fully set-up you should be able to (with Endurance to be at full health when you hero up to Giant form.
-
Electrostatic Armor retaliate when you defend.
-
Giant Strength not used that much since it goes away.
-
Indomitable ensuring that you can get back on your feet and don't waste your hero turn.
-
Practiced Plan keep your Ready for a Fight back in your hand.
-
Ready to Rumble when you have to start in alter-ego mode and can't use Ready for a Fight and need to heal.
-
Unflappable combo to get more cards.
-
Wrist Gauntlets helpful to set up an actual alter-ego turn.
Good luck and have fun.
Other decks in this series
(Some will be updated soon to version 2.0):
Ready for a Fight: Part I: Ready for A One-Two Punch! https://marvelcdb.com/decklist/view/50416/ready-for-a-one-two-punch-2.0 Allowing you to be in Alter-Ego and get 10 cards to start your hero turn.
Ready for a Fight: Part II: Ready for a Dance of Death! https://marvelcdb.com/decklist/view/50440/rfaf-ready-for-a-preparation-1.0 You will have total control on the board and all your cards played.
Ready for a Fight: Part III: Ready for a Repulsor Blast! https://marvelcdb.com/decklist/view/50485/rfaf-ready-for-a-repulsor-blast-1.0 A nice way to still get your Alter-Ego abilities even late game.
Ready for a Fight: Part IV: Ready for a Hulk Smash! https://marvelcdb.com/decklist/view/50535/rfaf-ready-for-a-hulk-smash-1.0 Play hulk with RFAF and you actually keep your cards, have a larger hand size and not worry about scheming, because your Hulk and your thwarting sucks.
Ready for a Fight: Part V: Ready for a Giant Stomp! https://marvelcdb.com/decklist/view/50658/rfaf-part-v-ready-for-a-giant-stomp-1.0 If you like the Wasp version, you will love Giant-Man, especially because the Ready for a Fight strategy gives you way more cards in alter-ego than his 4 limited hand size.
Ready for a Fight: Part VI: Ready for a Wasp Sting! https://marvelcdb.com/decklist/view/50763/rfaf-part-vi-ready-for-a-wasp-sting-1.0 A very different feel than the other RFAF decks as you have less physical resources, but uses RFAF strategy as often as you can. A way to get Wasp on the table.
Ready for a Fight: Part VII: Ready for a Photon Beam! https://marvelcdb.com/decklist/view/50764/rfaf-part-vii-ready-for-a-photon-beam-1.0 So far my favorite of the RFAF series because you get Ironheart set up so much faster to Version 2 and 3.
Ready for a Fight: Part VIII: Ready for a Swinging Web-Kick! https://marvelcdb.com/decklist/view/50842/rfaf-part-viii-ready-for-a-swinging-web-kick-1.0 More card draw than you thought possible, setting up Change of Fortune card draw and less worrying about Scheming when you go down to Alter-Ego because of Ready for a Fight play stule
Coming Soon - Ready for a Fight: Part IX: Ready for a Phantom Flip!

Looks fun! I love that you’re going through old heroes and looking at them through the prism of a new card.
With all the form-changing, did you consider Perseverance to limit damage from the attacks? Just a thought.
