"They all fall down" ~ Domino
Hey friends!
Here is a deck that I'm having a blast with right now and one of two Firepower decks I've built since the release of Falcon & the Winter Soldier.
Set Pieces
At its core, this deck utilizes one of my favorite interactions in Marvel Champions: Domino's Pistols + Sharpshooter. It just feels great. However, there are several key set pieces in this deck that, together, can lead to victory.
-
The first set piece beyond the core component is Jarnbjorn. Usually when I build around this card, it involves more attack events and cards in hand to boost damage output. Here, we're able to trigger Jarnbjorn with 35+ cards in the deck, between and . Once you build out, you are able to trigger this multiple times through basic ATK, pistols, and your 5 attack events. Pistols on the board means several sources of extra damage each turn.
-
The second set piece is the incredible Firepower. This takes some effort to get set up, but our main weapon targets are all cheap, with 3x Sidearms and Jarnbjorn. For the sidearms to hit the board, you'll need some allies and luckily we've got several that don't have a problem sticking around like Blade and Deadpool. Tigra and Wolverine are also sticky and provide some additional options.
-
Lastly, we've got the Domino package (hero kit), which does a lot of work on its own. Though we are built around a combination of Domino's Pistols, Jarnbjorn, and Firepower, the rest of her kit provides some utility and has a low cost curve to keep up the tempo.
Game On
So far, this deck has been an absolute blast to play. By not hyper-focusing on a single card like Firepower, we can build out in several ways while keeping tempo in most scenarios. Sticky allies with weapons can put out some consistent damage to add to our core of Domino's Pistols + SS
Sure, we could boost Firepower by including Aggressive Energy or Warrior Skill, and even use heroes with more damage boosts like Gambit or Nick, but each additional damage increment is an added string of complexity to pull off in real play. By forgoing this complexity, we smooth out our game quite a bit and avoid falling into a trap.
Make Your Own Luck
Feel free to make your own luck and play how you want, but my simple strategy with this deck so far is this:
- Basic defend early on to stay in hero form longer and not create excessive threat. If you've got solid threat control on your team, flip as you see fit to get access to more cards. (Side Note: Regularly defending is why I excluded Bug as a sticky ally.)
- Play into the hand you're dealt, but prioritze your weapons package like Pistols and Sharpshooter.
- Build out allies when you can and throw Sidearms on them.
- Jarnbjorn when you can for additional damage.
Let me know what you think and how you might tweak this deck for your play style.
Peace!
