That's Not A Knife....This is a Knife...(actually they're two cutlasses and an axe)
Thought I'd give an Aggression Deck a go with Nightcrawler - and though I was initially disappointed Kurt's Cutlasses are only classified as one Weapon upgrade (more on that later), I still had fun centring this deck around the swashbuckling nature of everyone's favourite blue elf.
Parry, Thrust - ATTACK!
This deck leans into Kurt's Cutlasses so you want to try and get this as soon as you can. If you don't, no need to panic as Nightcrawler's kit can amply move things along until you do.
This deck includes 12 x attack event cards, with half of them relying on a weapon upgrade. You still have 6 x other attack cards to keep you afloat until you get at least one weapon- then its all stops to Slash 'n' Bash city...and you've paid full fare!
Superpower Training helps with getting Kurt's Cutlasses out, but I've also included Jarnbjorn too. The Cutlasses are preferred but if you play Jarnbjorn first, that's good too - essentially we need a weapon to activate the attack events in this kit.
Bear in mind you need Prehensile Tail to have both Kurt's Cutlasses and Jarnbjorn out.
A Flurry of Blades No, not the Psylocke hero events...but sonething of that ilk!
Included in this deck are -
A very good card that deals a decent amount (5) of damage. As Kurt's Cutlasses don't need to inherently exhaust, there's no harm exhausting it in order to deal out 5 damage!
Originally, I was hoping since Kurt's Cutlasses effectively counted as two restrictions, that somehow it also counted as two weapons...unfortunately as weapon upgrades go, it still counts as just the one, but as mentioned above, and similarly to Black Panther's weapon upgrades, there's no 'cost' to exhaust them..
This has been more specifically chosen with 1ATK minions in mind. If you are playing a scenario with beefier minions with 2-3ATK, I'd look to replace this with another card like Relentless Assault. Still, with Nightcrawler's Bamf! upgrade, you could slap it on a minion and let them attack, then hit them for 5 damage afterwards...pretty handy!
Fuel to the Rage
Warrior Skill is great as it adds damage to any attack - with multi-damage events like Firepower and 'Port and Punch, you gain more benefit too;
Two copies of Aggressive Energy are included too..you could have Firepower hitting two enemies for 5 damage each...all for just 2 ER cost....crazy!
Cant keep a Blue Devil down
I've added two copies of Battle Fury to ensure you can use Kurt's basic actions as much ad you can. Nightcrawler is a good thwarter so you want to keep doing that as well as keep the tempo up with this Aggression Deck.
This is not about keeping a clean board state...it's about carving a path to the villain and then hitting them hard! However, in true solo, unless you are totally proficient in a rush style of play, you need to keep the threat down somewhat to either buy you time, or prevent a more challenging stage come into play.
Have Kurt basic thwart...kill a minion with an attack event...then ready up to thwart again if need be.
Smoothing Out the Wrinkles
Finally, apart from the signature ally Daytripper, I've included five other allies...mostly cheap, but there to help out with thwart, minions or attachments -
Doesn't happen often, but I did once get to teleport a minion back into the encounter deck once...its fun, but use Magik mainly to attack or chump block;
A great ally to give you good thwart, plus she can nullify a side scheme's icon - which in some instances can be game changing...try to use her thwarting to the max;
One of the best Aggression allies in that he can get rid of nasty villain attachments. Otherwise use him to attack and chump block;
With Bamf! upgrades on enemies, Shark-Girl can attack for 3ATK...! Good enough to defeat some minions straight out...look to use her once then chump block;
Admittedly, I only chose her for her cost....use her to ping off a tough, thwart a little...but definitely block if need be. I've never used her ability...but who knows...there's a first for everything!

Aug 28, 2025I love the idea of Firepower using swords and an axe lol. Nice deck! Also, I don't see anybody knocking your door down if you decide to count Kurt's Cutlasses as two weapons :) |
Love all the Firepower love, and good to see Kurt getting a turn!
