Not that Magik (magic).
Colossus gets magical aid from heroes other than his sister, namely Kaluu and Wiccan. Wiccan arrives via Cameo.
So inspiration comes from the Night Guard deck by @herowannabe where we always want to end the turn in alter-ego. But let's do it in leadership. To do so, we need Armor Up in our hand each turn. There are multiple ways to do this.
-
Thin the deck. The fewer cards there are, the more likely Armor Up will show up.
-
Aspiring artist and Mutant Education lets you put Armor Up back in your deck.
-
Draw cards - Mutant Education / X-Mansion combo, Maria Hill, Ironheart, Iron Will, Moira MacTaggert, Piotr's Studio and X-Bunker lets you draw cards.
-
Magic moment number one - play Kaluu - he lets you search your top five cards for an event.
-
Magic moment number two - play Wiccan. He lets you add an identity-specific event to your hand. Then cycle him with Med Lab. This lets you play him "from your hand" every third round. But then with Command Center in play, [Wiccan] (/card/56030) can be played every other round (see Wiccan magical cycle below.
Now for the allies.
Shadowcat is our forever ally. So add Danger Room Training and Inspired on her. This makes here a 4 thwart/4attack and she can bypass a crisis icon, guard or patrol when needed. Heal here each turn with X-Mansion
Wiccan is here for the Wiccan magical cycle.
Kaluu, Maria Hill, Ironheart, Kid Omega and Bling! (from New Recruits ) are cheap allies that can chump block, when needed, so that you can keep your tough status cards.
Now for the Wiccan magical cycle.
Round 1 - Wiccan activates and is defeated by consequential damage. So exhaust Med Lab and put him in the Med Lab.
Round 2 - Exhaust Med Lab and play Wiccan paying his resource cost. Then you can find Armor Up and add it to your hand. Wiccan enters play exhausted. Use Command Team to ready him. Activate and deal consequential damage.
Back to round 1.
The spell has been cast:
With just a little "magik" from our two resident mystics, Colossus can Armor Up each turn. This deck takes a little time to set up but is fun to navigate.
