Cable Leadership deck focused on a "Johnny"-Style combo, but it does the thing well. Cameo Shadowcat, then load her up and ready her over and over. This lets you play Live Dangerously while ignoring the crisis icon on it (and any other crisis side schemes, for that matter).
There's a rhythm to this deck, and I've played it only in multiplayer. The initial hurt of losing two cards from your opening hand (thanks Cameo) can be offset by staying down on the opening turn to draw 6 more cards the next turn. This gives you a decent change to draw into Shadowcat or Suit Up so that you can get Shadowcat out ASAP.
- I didn't load up the deck with side schemes, because Cable has a tendency to run away with the game after a bit. We don't need 15 dmg Telekinetic Blast. Give aggression a chance to flex.
- That said, we do have enough to get up to 5 side schemes in the victory display, with Live Dangerously as the only remaining scheme, and we do want to clear Technovirus Purge as soon as possible (so that Cable can be Psionic
- Once Shadowcat has Sidekick, you can use Side-by-Side to ready her and Cable
- Once Shadowcat has Danger Room Training, you can use Game Time to ready her
- Once Cable has Psionic, you can use Psychic Kicker to ready Shadowcat as well.
- Once Shadowcat has at least two of these, it's probably time to kick off Live Dangerously and pick up the third along the way. Use Professor to tutor it back to hand when you're ready to go.
- For survivability, Cable has 12 hp, so I usually take the hits, then flip down to recover. This heals Shadowcat because of Sidekick, and you can get an extra point of healing on her or Cable with X-Mansion.
- Once Shadowcat is thwarting the main for 5 multiple times per turn, you can afford to flip down every other turn (which is how I usually play it). If you can, though, cover that Flip with a confused from Professor X, who you can tutor with Suit Up (giving it relevance beyond the initial setup)
- if you have extra activations for Shadowcat, the Uncanny X-Force + Children of the Atom combo allows her to destroy side schemes without taking consequential damage. I often keep the main clear in the final turns of the game, despite Live Dangerously, so having something else to do with Psychic Kicker is nice.
- Step 9: win
"Shadowcat steps out to ruin some villain's day"

Jul 04, 2026This looks like a blast! Cable is someone I've been wanting to revisit, so I'll have to give it a shot. Because Cameo works a lot better in mutiplayer, I wouldn't mind getting into a deck-building 'phase' of using it more. |

Live Dangerously with Shadowcat, excellent combo. Johnny decks are my favorite.
