"Tony Stark was able to build this in a cave!"
"With a box of scraps!"
A thematic Iron Man deck based on the 1st movie where he iterates through various Tech upgrades to build out the Iron Man suit.
Thematically, Iron Man is not an Avenger yet, so he has no allies (don't play War Machine - "Next time, baby.") or Avenger / S.H.I.E.L.D. supports. He'll just have to rely on his Ingenuity, a slightly Enhanced Physique (from working out), his Readiness for a Fight, his assistant, his wealth, and a whole lot of Tech to experiment with and Repurpose to get stronger.
Overview
-
If staying in alter-ego and letting the villain scheme on turn 1 is bad, try to prioritize mulliganing for Ready for a Fight and the physical resource to play it.
-
Early on, play as many Tech upgrades as you can for the larger hero hand size.
-
Forcefield Generator and Energy Barrier are great for surviving hits. You will not basic defend unless absolutely necessary. (So Electrostatic Armor is mainly for the cheap Tech upgrade count / Repurpose target rather than its effect.)
-
Repurpose the Tech upgrade of your choice for big attacks or thwarts or even just to ready when needed. Arc Reactor gives another ready with the boosted stat.
-
Assess the Situation helps mitigate having extra cards in hand when playing for the higher cost Tech upgrades.
Suggested Thematic Villain
For more theme, this is the villain I fought against with this deck. This is a tech and weapon heavy encounter deck matching the war profiteering Iron Monger from the movie.
Iron Man Leader (Iron Monger Stand-in)
- Choose any pair of Civil War main schemes (I just used the default Iron Man ones)
- Required Iron Man modular set and Standard
- Experimental Weapons
- Weapon Master
- Osborn Tech (can pretend it's "Stark Tech" for theme)
- Goblin Gear (can pretend it's "Stark Gear" for theme)
Hope you enjoy this deck and let me know how it works out if you try it!
