Ant-rapment: change form twice per round.
Overview :
- Play Style : Entrapment every turn. Choose your form.
- Fun: Medium-High (change form twice per round with Ant-Man! But don't expect it to NOT be swingy at low player counts ;) ).
- Difficulty : Low-Medium (easy game loop, but many effects).
- Power level : Medium to Strong (stronger in multiplayer).
- Recommended Player Count : 2 (see solo and 3-4p at the end).
This deck has won against Expert She-Hulk (bad matchup), Mansion Attack, and a few others.
Concept :
Ant-Man likes to change form. Entrapment let's you change form more often. It even let's you choose which hero form you prefer at the moment it triggers. Easy as that.
This is mainly a 2+ player combo. It works fine solo too thanks to our safety nets, but solo is always more swingy (see "solo" at the end).
The Ant-rapment loop:
- The villain schemes, you change to TINY form, deal X damage with Entrapment, remove 1 threat with Ant-Man, draw 1 card with your Ant-Man's Helmet, play Lay Down the Law with Sense of Justice, and remove 4 threat. Play your turn, then maybe go back to alter-ego, and heal 1 damage.
- Or go GIANT instead to deal 1 damage, and heal 2. Useful when you took damage from extra villain attacks, or minions. Then go back to alter-ego.
- Resize lets you hit all 3 forms in 1 turn, or 4 forms in 1 round. We draw enough to see them often :)
- Don't be afraid to takes hits on the chin as you heal a total of 3 every time you go alter-ego and then GIANT.
- You don't have to end in alter-ego every turn, you can tank a hit or two.
How to play this deck:
- Mulligan for a way to not lose the main, your Ant-Man's Helmet, or Superpower Training. An Entrapment turn 1 can sometimes be worth it.
- Focus on not losing the main scheme. Under Surveillance, Counterintelligence and efficient thwarting should help.
- Try to play 2-3 Army of Ants asap. The deck isn't super damage heavy, and the Ants help a lot early on!
- Draw with One Way or Another, Face the Past (easy minion, especially with 1+ Army of Ants in play), Avengers Mansion, Clear the Area, Ant-Man's Helmet, Resize, and Pym Particles.
- Evaluate Threat gives you Avengers Mansion, but can also give you an ally or Quincarrier.
- Quincarrier and/or Sense of Justice help you pay for LDtL easily.
- Squirrel Girl is brokenly good. She's perfect to exactly finish side schemes.
- Agent Coulson gives you Entrapment, Practiced Plan, or Counterintel..
- If possible, keep your allies in play for when the villain would kill you, or when you're about to reshuffle your deck.
- Vigilante Training is nice to reshuffle Lay Down the Law, but don't abuse it, you want to see your good hero cards sooner rather than later too! :)
Other cards to consider:
- Solo: +1 Spycraft and play Agent Coulson when you see him! Focus on Under Surveillance and Counterintelligence. Hard mulligan for it I'd say.
- 3-4p: -1 Under Surveillance, +1-3 Skilled Investigator. -1 Clear the Area? -1 One Way or Another? +2 Assess the Situation?
- +1 Practiced Plan?
- Swarm Tactics if you really want to. Not needed.
- Firebird for extra on-demand thwart, and chump blocking.
- +1-3 Skilled Investigator.
- +1 Vigilante Training.
Anyway, enjoy, have fun,
and don't forget to drop a like/fav, it's always appreciated :)

But also don't forget that Entrapment can trigger after the villain scheme against the other player :) Have fun! |
This is a brilliant use of Entrapment! Can't wait to try this out in my next 2-player game!
