When I first saw Hope Summers the basic ally from Next Evolution, I was excited at the ability to draw super power cards. However, not many characters can afford to play a 4 cost ally AND a super power card in the same turn. Enter Colossus, with his many situational 0 cost super powers.
Armor Up, Made of Rage, and Bulletproof Protector are all 0 cost superpowers you can pull based on what you need. Flip down to alter-ego? Ensure you have an Armor up ready to go. See an opening to hit the villain? Pull out Made of Rage. Constantly flipping and using Mutant Education will ensure we keep the cards we want in our deck.
Superpower Training and Deft Focus help us get our setup cards that Colossus so desperately needs. Keep in mind they are Superpowers too, if you pull Hope early before you are set up.
Build Support can help us set up the 'Hope Engine'. With a Med Team in play, we can retire Hope quicker so we can play her again. A couple of Command Team help to spend her actions faster. You could consider Regroup as an option, but that costs two cards on a turn in exchange for Hope defending and returning to your hand. Since Colossus loves flipping, I figured Med team was a more efficient way.
Since Hope costs 4, the resources are based around doubles for basic and all cards to help afford big allies. So I leaned into it with some other powerful, expensive allies. Lockjaw is great to defend if you really want to hold on to a tough status or end up with resources at the wrong time. Professor X can bring confusion and some big thwarting Colossus needs. Snowguard is flexible and a great candidate for Call for Backup
Opening hand you start with 7 cards (unless you were unlucky enough to draw both Organic Steel). If one of those is Hope, you could play her from hand, and have 2 cards left over. This means you could pull Titanium Muscles or Iron Will and play it first turn.
You can also cycle Armor up to continually flip and flip back on villain activation. Just make sure to keep 4 resources when Hope is in the Med Lab so you can play her when you flip back to Alter-ego.
Also note that Titanium Muscles can provide 2 resources with 2 tough, which can help pay for the expensive allies in hero mode.
Save the Day works as an emergency thwart. Since Colossus doesn't have much for thwart, you may need to buy more time for setting up, so use though expensive allies and toss em to keep threat down or wipe out a player side scheme.
