This is part of my series of decks that I brought to the Con of Heroes 2025. I like to try to bring a wild card deck each year--last year it was the fabulous and chaotic Galactic Pool Cleaner. https://marvelcdb.com/decklist/view/38503/galactic-pool-cleaner-1.0
Thanks to the contributions of VJakson, Astrodar, and LazyTitan for helping me flesh out this idea and the deck. The deck has been played against expert Klaw in 2p and 3p, and expert Mutagen Formula in 2p and 3p. It’s also been played solo a few times with good results.
Now, on to the write up…
Look at you.
You’re a genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist. You’re Tony Stark—the Iron Man. Look at your shiny new armor, ready to be assembled and used to whatever end.
Scrap it.
In this deck, you will never flip out of alter-ego form for the entire game. That’s right, the goal here is to never see the other side of your identity. Not once.
Harnessing the power of SHIELD, your own strength, and your employees, you will support your friends at the table and win the game while sitting at home.
Billionaire
You’re Anthony Stark. You are filthy. Stinking. Rich.
You’re a genius, so Ingenuity is an easy call. You’ve also got a hand size of 6 in AE, plus your Futurist ability, allowing you to add another card into your hand every turn. Avengers Mansion, Helicarrier, and Pepper Potts provide even more money.
Meditation and Disguise give you something to do with your identity instead of sitting there. Feel free to absorb any and all indirect damage for the table along the way too.
Playboy
You get around. Parties, meetings, conferences, and other events! You meet a lot of people, so it’s time to invite them out to help.
The SHIELD allies are solid enough on their own, but Quake adds some damage to minions. Dum Dum Dugan can put in a lot of work with the amount of SHIELD supports he can exhaust—Field Agent can make him stronger!
Spider-Man can clear a side scheme when he enters play and provides a lot of value once he’s on the table, so he’s a great inclusion here even without the SHIELD trait.
Agent 13 can ready your Helicarrier or Sky-Destroyer for multiple uses in a turn. Nick Fury is just good value (and since you’re in AE all game could actually be used for damage; drop him in and he does 2 from Sky-Destroyer + 4 from his ability + 2 from his basic attack). Monica Chang pulls in Surveillance Team, adding more threat mitigation for the table.
Nick Fury, Sr., Grant Ward, and Melinda May all add flexibility to your lineup and allow you to exert some control without having to worrying about how to manage sweating inside a metal suit.
War Machine adds nothing.
Philanthropist
Your donations haven’t gone unnoticed, and you’ve got an NGO here to help you. We are running a modified suite of SHIELD tech in this deck.
Field Agent is great to keep allies going or to exhaust for the SHIELD events. Surveillance Team adds threat mitigation. Sky-Destroyer adds some consistent damage with 20 targets in the deck.

Apr 29, 2025Tony is the alter ego king! |
Apr 29, 2025Stick to the boardroom Tony! |
Apr 29, 2025This looks great honestly not sure if I've played IM with the S.H.I.E.L.D package |

“what’s your superpower? “I’m rich.”

Apr 29, 2025This looks like a lot of fun! Makes me want to update my Bruce Banner AE deck so we can both play them in a 4 player game sometime! Watch all the "heroes" get beat up... |

Apr 30, 2025Man, perfectly thematic and might actually try to put this together before the Con, it looks so good! See ya there! |
Apr 30, 2025The most recent time I played iron man, I switched out War Machine for War Machine and I regret nothing. |

May 01, 2025Great write up! It's fun to read these styles where it is a bunch of quotes as the headers. I really like meditation to speed things up in alter ego. Great deck! |

May 01, 2025I disagree. War Machine is so OP here. Combo him with Homeland Intervention to DOUBLE his thwarting ability! |
May 02, 2025Unless I’m missing something, but in order to use Field Agent we would have to be in hero form to use the Hero Interrupt, correct? |

May 02, 2025Great deck, Iron Man is always good in this aspect or in Protection. Maybe you can switch one of your Surveillance Team for a Governement Liaison. It's a Shield card to but you have a ressource more to spell big allies like Dum Dum. Spiderman is a good allies but expansive, can play only in late-game with your full seven hands, perhaps switch with Ironheath : draw, an action and champions block. |

Government Liaison is a hero action, so it’s won’t work with this deck other than to exhaust for Homeland Intervention or Dum Dum Dugan but we have enough other SHIELD supports for that. The Spider-Man Justice ally isn’t too hard to play with our big hand size and lots of resource generators, and is a great source of burst thwart for us. |
May 03, 2025Always in Alter-Ego, i hadn’t paid attention to that. So Spiderman justifies himself. Maybe Moon-Girl could be a good addition to draw with your mental resources |
May 03, 2025I'm a little surprised The Douglas didn't make it into this deck. Seems like a flex Tony would love. |
I adore Dum Dum Dugan and being able to back him up with Field Agents feels sweet!
