I was surprised to see there wasn't an Honed Technique deck for Cindy as a genius-traited character who can make us of Ingenuity. I've tried a few different builds with more Aggression cards as Cindy is a much better thwarter than Peter Parker due to getting +1 Thwart + being able to ready through Organic Webbing, her thwarting is not reliant on having minions in play, side schemes can be handled via J. Jonah Jameson, and getting additional thwart via Outwit. That said, I keep coming back to playing mostly web-warriors because they're so much fun and they're so efficient. I also wanted to make use of the new Spider-Woman. While Cindy can do good burst damage with Swinging Silk Kick, I really like Melee with Honed Technique. Even before getting the upgrade out, Melee can be useful for helping Silk dispose of minions. After it's out, 3 resources for 12 damage (that can be split as 6 and 6) is phenomenal value.
New and/or Noteworthy Allies:
-Grant Ward: Fantastic ally who's even better with Cindy. If a treachery comes up, you may be able to get rid of it with Eidetic Memory and if you can't, Ingenuity can help keep him in play.
-Madame Web: Choose your boost and encounter card. She's great, but even better with Silk due how she tucks cards and additionally can potentially manipulate it via Eidetic Memory. Thwarting for 2 and getting a card when she leaves play is also great.
-Spider-Man: You can use Otto to ready Organic Webbing for a 2nd ready or alternatively if you want to use Outwit or Spider Claws a second time.
-Spider-Woman: With lots of Web-Warriors leaving and entering play, you can do some extra damage. It's worth noting, if you use Face the Past, you can still do damage to the villain via Jessica's response.
This deck has a ton of economy through Web of Life and Destiny, Avengers Mansion, Helicarrier, Team-Building Exercise, Face the Past, and Ingenuity. Once you have the board state stable and get the villain to a low health value, you should be able to delete the villain's final stage in one go between you're Swinging Silk Kicks and Melees.
Dive Bomb was considered as it's just incredibly powerful when combined with Honed Technique. Ultimately, I went with Melee because it's cheaper, it isn't reliant on having Organic Webbing in the deck, and Melee can actually be better for dealing with minions before Honed Technique is in play.
Hope you like it! Cheers!

May 22, 2025But for real, love the minion strategy behind the deck! |
May 22, 2025My original draft did have Moon Girl, though it lacked Professor X because deck space was tight enough as it was. That said, my typical deck testing is with Expert Klaw (bit of everything) and Expert Black Widow (can you handle the threat?) and I was barely every able to flip without X. Least of all when Moon Girl happened to be in my hand. In the end, I decided X was more important than Moon Girl. |
Do you find Honed Technique worth it with only three copies of a single event? Looks like the deck has lots of versatility and card draw through the suite of allies!
