My favorite group is the X-men. My favorite X-men is Nightcrawler. If fact, my favorite hero is the swashbuckler himself. He plays well with protection, but I wanted a deck that embodied Nightcrawler through and through. So no Avengers. No Guardians. Every card was picked thinking it fits with Nightcrawler.

He is known for teleporting, high agility, religious, a leader, a great tail, hiding in shadows, his love for Amanda and of course his association with the X-men.

I also wanted a deck that emphasizes events and resources to pay for them. So let's bamf to it...

A breakdown of the cards (and some playing suggestions)

The Resource Generators - Early game prioritize getting upgrades down. Most are 1 or 2, so they should be easy to play.

As an X-men, Nightcrawler would have access to The X-Jet. This is one of the few 3 cost cards but well worth it for a wild resource for anything. It can be used to pay for other upgrades and to get Bamf! from the discard pile.

Nightcrawler's religious dedication brings in a couple addition resource generators - Deft Focus and Clarity of Purpose. Deft Focus is not technically a resource generator but it does help with all of Nightcrawler's superpower events. Clarity of Purpose does require to take one damage so use it last to pay for events. Multitalented helps to mitigate that damage.

Prehensile Tail - perfect for help with the leadership and basic events. And it can help with Nightcrawler's hero events as well.

Nightcrawler's agility brings in Enhanced Reflexes. This helps to store resources early on for later events. They help to pay for the requirement for Go All Out. This also allows you to store Genius and Strength for future use. There are 3 so you can skip 1 or 2 the first time through the deck, if needed.

The Other Upgrades and Supports

Kurt's Cutlasses - A definite card to get out as soon as possible.

As the heart of the X-men, Down Time comes into play to increase recovery. His religious dedication also brings in Kurt's Chapel. When it is time to power down and recover, we want to get it done and power back up to play more events. Both of these cards will bring recovery to 6.

Training at the danger room brings in Endurance and Specialized Training. The target for specialized training is Defense Specialist. This give him an additional defense but it allows a card draw with each basic defense (even with Bamf!.

As a leader of both the X-men at one time and Excalibur at one time, there is Leadership Training. Target for this [Make the Call] (/card/01071) (more on that later)

Now for the fun part - the events. As you play and get the upgrades down, you will have more and more space in your turn to play events.

Nightcrawler's events are all perfect. But they work better with Bamf! (more on that later).

Multitalented is a basic event that acts like Nightcrawler is teleporting to attack the villain, then teleporting to thwart a scheme and then teleporting into the shade to rest and heal. With all of his wild resource generators, it should be easy to use one of each of the three types.

As a leader and heart of the X-men, we have Morale Boost. It gives a boost when needed to an attack/thwart during the player phase and defense during the villain phase. It's a 1 cost so easy to pay for with all the resources available. It also combos with Go All Out.

Teleporting Frenzy - Use Go All Out.to teleport frenzy around the enemy. With Morale Boost, Kurt's Cutlasses and Defense Specialist, we can do 12 damage.

No for our one and only ally - Daytripper. Yes this is a leadership deck with only one ally. But it allows us to use Make the Call to bring Daytripper back again and again. Daytripper puts Bamf! on an enemy. So every turn we play Daytripper we can pull a 2nd Bamf! from the discard pile to boost his signature events. Leadership Training is here to put Make the Call back in your deck (once when you power down and a 2nd time before powering back up in the next round). Keep making the call.

Tally Ho! also brings Bamf! into your hand. Use it as often as you can.

So once your board is setup, the deck provides a bunch of events in your hands and the resources to pay for them. Teleport Kurt. Teleport!
