Introduction
Strength in Diversity is a game-changing card for Leadership Ally decks. Up until this point, every card which synergizes with allies requires you to either exhaust or discard them in order to get the effect (e.g. Strength In Numbers, Teamwork, Last Stand, Mass Attack, etc.) Strength in Diversity is the first card that allows you to double-dip on your allies, to use them twice in the same turn. Furthermore, it is extremely flexible: you can use it to remove threat or deal damage, but it is not an attack or thwart, meaning that you don't take retaliate, can bypass guard minions, etc.
The idea behind this deck was to get out allies out on the table with different traits. Then you can draw 3-5 cards using Strength In Numbers and play Strength in Diversity or Heroic Strike to take out the villain. In an ideal situation, you are playing a 2 cost event to do 10 damage or remove 10 threat.
Testing
I tested this deck against the core box villains, the Rise of Red Skull Campaign, the Galaxy's Most Wanted campaign, the Mad Titan's Shadow Campaign, Kang, and the Green Goblin on Expert Mode.
Other Considerations
- Initially, I did not include some Leadership staple allies (White Tiger, Maria Hill, Stinger), but realized that against villains like Ronan, you need some efficient chump blockers early on to get set up in order to survive. If you want to get down to 40 cards, you probably want to drop these ones.
- I also tried out Mission Leader in the deck, but found my economy to be strong enough without it.
- Cameo for Miss Marvel signature ally to recur Strength in Diversity multiple times. I didn't like starting with only 4 cards.
Playthrough Recommendations
With Captain America, the first time through the deck, you will want to get set up by playing as many of your economy cards as you can: Super-Soldier Serum, Quincarrier (via Build Support), Helicarrier, Avengers Mansion and Steve's Apartment. You'll be chump blocking with allies a lot the first time through the deck.
Once your economy is reasonably set up, you will want to play allies which have 2-3 different traits than you (e.g. Vivian, Namora, Hugin & Munin, Domino, Beast, Nick Fury, Professor X) and play Strength in Diversity to take out the villain pretty efficiently. Kaluu and Black Panther help you find this event and get it back into your hand.
