War Machine has the (fire)power!
This deck uses 8 non-restricted Weapon upgrades, all of which cost 2 or less, making them easy to get into play which makes Firepower a pretty consistent threat.
You'll also get some "free" damage out of Sky-Destroyer with 12 S.H.I.E.L.D. cards (12 of 42 cards = 28.6% of the deck).
Side Schemes:
Note that Targeted Strike can clear any of these in solo!
- Use Evaluate Threat to find and reduce the cost of Munitions Bunker to 0. If that's already in play, find Sky-Destroyer and reduce its cost to 1.
- Use Keep Up the Pressure to find Firepower, which will deal 4s instead of 3s this phase, and if you pay for it with Aggressive Energy it'll deal 5s.
- Use Lock and Load to put Shoulder Cannon into play, but if it already is, grab a Gauntlet Gun.
- Use Superpower Training to put Upgraded Chassis into play.
Fitz can find TECH in your deck, and Simmons can help pay for it!
S.H.I.E.L.D. Deputy does more than give you one extra HP. It also makes you S.H.I.E.L.D. in hero form which has several benefits:
- It allows for a ready with Captain America
- You can attach a S.H.I.E.L.D. Sidearm to him in hero form
- You get the S.H.I.E.L.D. reduction on FitzSimmons while in hero form.
Resources
With 8 cards which could use The Power in All of Us I'd be justified in including them, but I'd want to make cuts for them to keep the deck at 42.
I could replace Aggressive Energy with them, but they make Firepower deal 4s instead of 3s (5s if I defeated Keep Up the Pressure in the same phase).
I can see myself cutting Lock and Load and Superpower Training for them as well, but that's not great either.
The Power in All of Us are also , which I could spend as to stave off Grant Ward's betrayal!
A Tangled Web of Interactions
I tested the following as cards 42, 43, and 44:
- Spider-Woman isn't trait locked, and is both WEB-WARRIOR & S.H.I.E.L.D.:
- She triggers her own Response and Sky-Destroyer's Response...
- She can be readied by Captain America...
- She can wield a S.H.I.E.L.D. Sidearm...
- and getting her into play allows you to play...
- Spider-Man: Otto Octavius who has plenty of TECH targets to ready.
- Madame Web isn't trait locked either, but her Response gets better with more WEB-WARRIOR cards in play.
CUT or KEEP?
- I kept Spider-Woman for her S.H.I.E.L.D. benefits.
- The only time I played Madame Web she was the only WEB-WARRIOR card I controlled, so I replaced her with Melinda May who basically does the same thing 3 times, and she'll also trigger Sky-Destroyer's Response and can carry a S.H.I.E.L.D. Sidearm.
- I never played Spider-Man: Otto Octavius because I always drew him before the other two, so I cut him.
Additional Notes
- I like Man on the Wall here, but I cut it late for Superpower Training to find the Chassis.
- I had Hall of Heroes in the deck for a while, but in the few games that it hit the table it never gained 3 counters. In the games that it didn't hit the table I got minion swarmed LOL.

Jun 10, 2026I think it's very strong, but not busted because you need multiple upgrades on the board to take full advantage of it, and to do anything it needs one upgrade in play. Also, Weapon upgrades are usually (but not always) restricted, so sometimes you'll also need to run Side Holster meaning you'll need four upgrades in play to take full advantage of it (or find some other non-restricted weapons like Pulse Grenade, etc.) War Machine has four in his kit that aren't restricted, and Iron Man & Black Panther have two. Venom's are restricted, but he gains one additional restricted "slot" (those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head, I'm sure they are more). I'd agree that it's busted in them, but for most heroes I think it's just a fun option. |
Firepower is busted, but made for War Machine (and Black Panther, I just built a deck for the OG BP with this event).
