Spect-rapment: always be in the right energy form!
The Entrapment Series so far:
- Ant-rapment — ft. Ant-Man
- En-Wasp-ment — ft. Wasp
- Spectr-apment — ft. Spectrum
Overview :
- Play Style: Entrapment every turn. Choose your form.
- Fun: High (change energy form multiple times per round!).
- Difficulty: Low-Medium (easy game loop, but many effects).
- Power level: Strong (Medium in solo).
- Recommended Player Count: 2+ (see solo and 3-4p at the end).
- Ideal teammate: Anyone who can defend against extra attacks.
This deck has won against Expert Kang, and Sinister Six with ease.
Concept :
This is mainly a 2+ player combo, where you can thwart a LOT for the table! So...no allies here; your teammate(s) will defend you if you ever need to be defended. (see "solo version" at the end :) )
Spectrum likes to change her energy form. Entrapment let's you change your energy form more often because of your Energy Transformation ability. Going into alter-ego also gives you more cards; so more chances to draw an event that changes your energy form. This way, you're never trapped into 1 energy form!
If you sustained damage, just go Pulsar every turn as long as you have a Spectrum's event in hand. Otherwise go to whichever form you'll need during your upcoming turn.
The Spectr-apment loop:
- The villain schemes, you change to hero form, you change to an energy form of your choice (after you see your hand for your upcoming turn!), trigger your energy form's Hero Response (1 damage, threat, or heal), finish resolving Entrapment and deal X damage, play Lay Down the Law with Sense of Justice, and remove 4 threat. Play your turn, then maybe go back to alter-ego, and heal 1 damage.
- Don't be afraid to take a hit on the chin from time to time, as you can heal 1 every time you go from alter-ego to Pulsar. Not amazing, but good enough considering the villain won't attack you that often.
How to play this deck:
- Mulligan for a way to not lose the main, your Deft Focus, Energy Duplication, or Superpower Training. An Entrapment turn 1 can sometimes be worth it.
- Focus on not losing the main scheme. Under Surveillance, Counterintelligence and efficient thwarting should help.
- You'll often take a hit on turn 1. That's okay! Later, if you sustained damage, just go Pulsar every turn as long as you have a Spectrum's event in hand to go back to a do-things form (attack or thwart).
- Everywhere All at Once is there because I love the card, and it makes you more useful in multiplayer!
- Justice Served will combo with it. It's here instead of Ready to Rumble because it allows you to use your 3 THW in Photon form twice (rather than changing to a different form in order to ready).
Other cards to consider:
- Solo: -3 Everywhere All at Once, -1 Justice Served, -1 Skilled Investigator, +1 Spycraft, +1 Agent Coulson, +1 Squirrel Girl, +1 Under Surveillance, +1 Ready to Rumble. +1 Blindfold to be extra safe?
- 3-4p: +1 Skilled Investigator. -1 One Way or Another depending on scenarios and team. +1 Stealth Training can be very efficient here!
- Ready to Rumble makes you more balanced between THW and ATK. I went big thwarter energy here though.
- +1 Practiced Plan?
- Yaw and Roll I prefer Everywhere :p
- Vigilante Training.
- Agent Coulson
- Firebird
- Squirrel Girl
- Heroic Intuition and Heroic Conditioning are nice but slows down the deck too much.
Anyway, enjoy, have fun,
and don't forget to drop a like/fav, it's always appreciated :)
