After many games (about ten), much tweaking, more frustration, and a little inspiration from other decks on this site, I finally managed to pilot Spider-Woman to a victory of Ultron on Expert.
My previous iterations of this deck were too focused on hitting Ultron as hard as possible, but eventually I would lose steam as the drones relentlessly appeared. I decided that I would try an alternative approach, and take a little more time over the game, attempting to implement a bit of set-up that would see me through the later stages.
The most important mechanic for this deck is probably card draw. Therefore, the most important cards are Hall of Heroes, Jessica Drew's Apartment, and Clear the Area. The next most important thing to do is to try and buy yourself some time, and this is where Under Surveillance comes into play. Given that the first stage of the main scheme, "The Crimson Cowl" only has a threat limit of 3, if you can get it out early, you can really shift the game in your favour.
Thirdly, you want to give yourself a bit of a resource boost so Finesse is very important in that regard.
Heroic Intuition and Combat Training provide a nice boost to your base stats and given the amount of minions you will be facing (and defeating), Relentless Assault, Chase Them Down and Interrogation Room are very handy. Self-Propelled Glide and Battle Fury really synergise with those first two cards as well as you can hit an enemy with a pumped up Spider-Woman multiple times.
Spycraft can save you from a game ending encounter but I only included one as I didn't want multiples clogging up my deck. I also personally liked the bump that Endurance and Down Time provide and was happy to bump the deck up to a total of 42 cards for that purpose.
The deck is minion light because you want to keep the cost curve very low. Spider-Girl and Quake are alright, but will mainly be used as Ultron fodder, so don't worry too much about their abilities firing off. Hulk on the other hand, can be a blinding ally, especially if you can combine him with Jessica Drews "look at the top card of a deck" ability. He has got me out of a few binds when multiple drones have been out and I've flipped over a symbol.
I only have wave one of the game so far (up to and including the Red Skull expansion), but there is a care called Lie in Wait in one of the later packs that I think would be a good fit. I'm not sure what I would drop though....
I'm not sure how this deck would perform against other minion heavy decks, but I'm certainly looking forward to trying it out and if you try this deck I hope you have fun too.
